Easily the most miserable 93 minutes of my life.

This movie was HORRIBLE. I couldn't keep my eyes off of it, because it was so bad I was curious as to whether it could get worse.

Not surprisingly, it did!!

I don't even need to do a review. Let's just think about that awkward, lengthy scene w/Rick in his boss' office. You know, the one where his boss playfully tells him off, and he ends up rolling on the floor?

Yeah that business.

What was THAT about?

Let me think...if I could have those 93 minutes of my life back, I would've probably preferred to (in this order):

- Have a bowel movement.
- Eat some jello.
- Ride my bike.
- Take a nap
- Eat dinner.
- Jump off of the Brooklyn Bridge.

reply

LMAO - Totally agree. Horrible.

One good line - "So there's a new 'next level'?" That was it. Everyone is "taking to the next level" these days and finally someone pilloried that cliche. Otherwise this movie is a -100.

I like most movies, but this did suck... took me a whole day to watch, cause I kept stopping it. I'm a Pullman fan, so I hung in till the end... but alas... it sucked...

I'd rather get herpes than watch this again!!!

"I'd buy that for a dollar!!"

This movie really was terrible. I didn't even watch all of it because I couldn't stand the way Bill Pullman talked. The way he struggled to get his words out and form a complete sentence (which I don't think he was able to do once in the entire movie) was so annoying!

reply

Amen.

reply

Okay, that's funny!

I started watching this last night and fell asleep. I'm supposed to watch the rest tonight w/ my mother but now I think I'll pass.

Thanks for the warning.

I agree. I couldn't even finish watching it. I can find something positive about almost any film but this was just too painful. As much as I like the actors, I could not stomach this piece of complete junk.

oh my god..so glad someone thought this movie was a disaster. i'm a pullman fan also so i really thought it would at least be watchable. but no..i seriously wanted to just be knocked unconscious just so i didn't have to continue watching it. i also stuck it out until the end hoping it would go somewhere and get better but my god it was even worse. after it ended i hated all the characters in this movie for no good reason. i feel sick just talking about it right now cause i just finished it.

Did we watch the same movie? I loved it. Am I alone in thinking that this was a very clever black comedy? Loved the cast, loved the storyline, and especially loved the dialogue.

Me too

I didn't love this movie but I thought it was a good film. It was very simple, it was very, very sad. How bad could things get for this flawed individual (Rick)? Pretty bad. No, worse than that. The worst.

He thought vacationing with Big Boss and BB's wife would be 'hell on earth.' He got that without ever having to go with them!

What I really liked in this film was watching the world around Rick just crumble. And then finally fall flat, destroyed. Not because I wanted it to - but because the script and story showed it so skillfully, in such a short time, in such a simple way.

I agree completely! I asked for this movie because I love the writer Daniel Handler. He wrote novels and wrote A Series of Unfortunate Events under the pseudonym Lemony Snicket. I liked all of hhis work, so I wanted to see the movie he wrote.

The only thing I can come up with is that lots of viewers might not understand it or aren't on the same wave-length. His work often has a dark quality to it, but also a humourous, quirky one.

Someon mentioned the scene at the beginning with his boss in which Rick ended up on the floor: I think this scene is meant to demonstrate Rick's status in the company ... his boss constantly humiliates him and Rick's job might as well be to put up with it so his boss can feel powerful and superior.

What puzzles me is that the film got a 6 out of 10. How does that happen?

reply

There are a lot of masochists? Lol. Seriously there are I guess many people who 'll vote positively if the film is off centre and cookie in some way, and also...let's be frank, most people are not that intelligent or emotionally rich.

Um, yea, that was an obnoxiously awkward scene. Even Pullman seemed to think so. Not funny.

Overall, I didn't like this film. Not as horrible as some people made it out to be in here...but not far off.

"Hey, how come Andrew gets to get up? If he gets up...we'll all get up...IT'LL BE ANARCHY!!"
