Favorite Pogues album

Anyone?

Mine is "Peace and Love." Close to that are "Rum, Sodomy and the Lash" and "If I Should Fall from Grace with God." "Hell's Ditch" is a bit below these three, IMO (which does not mean I disliked it; it just suffers a little by comparison.) Those are the four I am familiar with. I think I'm missing at least two or three...

You are missing REd Roses for me which is imho the most exciting upbeat album although it lacks certian muscical talents

My fave has to be "Rum, Sodomy and the Lash"

after that it's difficult.

I love most of "If I should fall from grace with God", but it's never as rip-roaring as "Red roses for me" which is just plain fun

"Peace and Love" showed there's more to the Pogues than just Shane, but it's not an album that is a lot of fun compared to the others. It's underrated though

"Hell's Ditch" has a couple of great songs, but the tone is a bit flat and it sounds a bit world music-y. Not bad, but not that great.

I haven't heard the post-Macgowan albums yet to be honest, but I hear they're not so great.

I love the work Macgowan's done with the Popes as well. "Crock of Gold" is vastly underrated imo and doesn't have a bad song on it, but it unfortunatley never reaches the heights of his work with the Pogues. "The Snake" on the other hand has a couple of songs that are true classics, but also there are songs that I skip every time (those horrible Sinead O'Connor duets for example)

May the great man continue to bring us great music....it's about time he did, it's been 7 years

My favorite is If I Should Fall From Grace With God. I also have Rum Sodomy and the Lash and Red Roses for Me, and its a toss up between those two. RSL is definetly a better album, but RRFM is more folk traditional Irish music, which I really enjoy. I haven't listened to the other Pogues albums (after IISFFGWG the band began to fall apart due to drinking). From what I have heard about the two non-Shane albums, they are terrible. Shane has said himself that Hell's Ditch was a weak alum, and White City sounds way distant from RRFM, so I have kinda left that on the lower end of my list of albums to get.

Actually, I don't mind the duets (one with Sinead and one with someone else.) Overall, it's a pretty good album. My favorite song on it has to be "The Snake With Eyes of Garnet." I also love "Aisling" and the cover of "Nancy Whiskey."

I might have to check out "Red Roses For Me." It appears to be the only Pogues album I am unfamiliar with.

That's a hell of a question. The ones with McGowan are all great. "Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash" has my favorite song on it ("Pair of Brown Eyes"), "Peace and Love", of course, has the best album cover, but I'd have to say as a whole album "If I Should Fall from Grace from God". I don't though--it's kind of like picking your all-time favorite sexual orgasm.

There first three albums are by far their best.
