Hello, Shane is doing very well considering people have said he has been knocking on deaths door for the past 20 years.Shane after he left the Pogues went on to join a band called the Popes,Shane once said they were the best band he has ever played with, which he brought out a few wonderful albums with.A highly reccommended one is called Rare Oul Stuff which has got a great tracklist on.Tracks such as "Christmas Lullaby" and "Victoria" are absolutley beautiful.The Snake album is another great album well worth purchasing.Although now sadly Shane MacGowan and The Popes have parted company and Shane is on the lookout for a new band.Which i have heard could be Paddy Rasta who produce a mixture of Celtic and Jamaican music.Yet nothing has been confirmed.It sounds strange but give it a chance..Shane will be reforming with the Pogues to do a great tour.They will be playing on the following dates;

12th December- Cardiff Indoor Arena
13th December- Glasgow Academy
14th December- Glasgow Academy
16th December- Newcastle Arena
17th December- Manchester MEN Arena
18th December- Birmingham NIA
20th December- London Brixton Acadamy
21th December- London Brixton Acadamy
23th December- Dublin the Point

It will be a great tour.Shane will end up in Dublin and will spend christmas in Ireland with his family.I hope some of this is usefull

I wish they'd bring the Pogues back here over the pond!

I second the recommendation for "The Snake." It has some great traditional covers like "Risning of the Moon," "Nancy Whiskey" and "Roddy McCorley," plus lots of great originals like "Haunted" (duet with Sinead O'Connor), "That Woman's Got Me Drinking," "Victoria," the riotous "Donegal Express," and my favorite, "The Snake With Eyes of Garnet," among many others.

Have you ever heard Shane's rendition of "Ride On" with cruchan? It is absolutley beautiful, he also sang a song called Just to be home with you" with a laydee on Jools Holland's show.He is such a wonderful man, the passion in his voice is incredible.I went to see Shane and the popes do a gig in London and while i was waiting in line i saw none other than Mad Dog from the popes walking accross the road.He was a lovely man and asked me and my sister if we would like to go backstage, we sat with Shane and the popes before they went on stage and it is a night i will never forget.I was shocked by how Shane was, despite what people say about him he was an absolute gentleman to us.What a man!

I just saw this film on the Sundance Channel. The Pogues are wonderful. There is a song in the film that is so beautiful, a love song. Shane sings it live in concert then again with full orchestrations. It's an incredible song. Thank you.

A Rain Night In Soho is the song. What a beautiful piece of music.

Did he make a lot of money?

Does he have a lot of money?

Why doesn't he get his teeth fixed?

Does he have Parkinson's disease? He shakes like Ozzy on crack.

Exactly how much money Shane has is a mystery..yet he once said that he only didn't get his teeh fixed because he could not afford it.I dont know what your views are, but i hope he doesn't get his teeth fixed...it's what makes Shane that little more different, and no he does not have parkinsons...a lifetime on the drink can make you a little shakey.Shane once admitted that he hasn't been sober since the age of 14 ha ha.

People have been saying that Shane will not see another christmas for the past 20 years.Shane will drink as much as he wants to and when he wants to..he is a big boy and he will lead HIS life the way HE wants to.Shane MacGowan will be remembered forever, just like his songs and he has got to 48 with no serious health problems...Do you really think he smokes and drinks as much as the papers/media says he does?

"This is what makes Shane different. The poor bastard hasn't been sober since 14? That's awful. Miserable. And he's miserable. I feel bad for the guy.

It's too bad, a serious waste of talent."

Shanes riotous activities are not what makes him different! His mind is what does that, he is fiercely intelligent, passionate and i honestly believe a poet!! That is what makes him different. As mentioned by Smilinds Shane is who he is, its his life and im sure no-one could convince him to change!!

Anyone hear the story with the Beach Boys CD?

reply

no whats that?

reply

On LSD high he took a beach boys CD and started to eat it, thats what the rumor is i dunno if its true or not.

reply

Not a CD, a vinyl lp.

Rumour has it, Shane might be using money to get false teeth, as he was growing concerned that his bad dental situation was affecting his singing voice.

He should get false teeth. He'll sound a LOT better when he does vocals!
