What a bad film.

Anybody interested in Shane 'Insane Shame' MacGowan will learn little new in this film, except to note how burned out and braindead he now is after years of booze and smack abuse. It's deeply sad to watch a once-brilliant man now reduced to a "shambolic wreck," as Nick Cave puts it, rambling incoherently about utter garbage. The doc totally glosses over his life and what must have made him that way, instead focussing on him blurbling away in various states of (non) sobriety, peeing in bushes and waving sticks about, padding out the running time with too-long clips of old Pogues music videos. Put it this way: this doc doesn't even mention the funny story of how The Pogues got their name, and what it meant before being changed. Pretty much a waste of time and effort and energy all round, and I am a big sane Shane fan.
