one of the best twists ever

i never saw it coming i was totally shock by it its was so different it was like a total different movie

reply

I just watched it and I thought it was amazing! I was totally shocked too!

When David called Wendy from the hotel and she said she was just sitting in her car I thought maybe she was downstairs, but then afterwards it went out of my head! Really well done, and the final scene where the girls got hit by the bus I gasped then laughed! The whole thing was brilliant!

reply

I thought they telegraphed the t-bone when the girls first pulled out into traffic. Hate to say but I was expecting it after that. Might have been better to kill them quickly :)

reply

I fully agree with Morro. When she pulled away from the hotel I thought the bus would tee-bone her in the middle of traffic leaving only Foley to walk away with the cash. Including Applegate was a nice twist at the end, but other than that, you basically saw the hotel shootout coming.

Over all better than I expected.

The ending sucked. It was so random and stupid. It didn't make any sense at all. Why would he need to pretend to work in a bank for two years in order to rob it. Just *beep* rob the place and burn the van like they did, but him working at the bank or teaming up with wendy wasn't nessisary. You can't make a movie start off like a drama and in the last 10 minuetes make it a cheesy hitman style film. Thats why it got poor reviews, becuase it was f ucking retarded. And the banm robbery and bus scene at the end were predictible unless your a dumbass.

reply

It helps working in the bank, if you are going to rob it!
Maybe he got the idea of robbing the bank after working in it, and was the restaurant scene planned?
Was he going to go ahead and get married?
Seemed that once he got sacked than the whole plan went into operation, if you think about this film to much, it dont make sense!

reply

i agree,this movie stupid!!

reply

the "twists" past the bank robbing were stupid imo. other than that, not a bad movie

The ending made perfect sense. There were hints at it the whole movie, from beginning to right before the twists. "Life is an illusion" was a huge theme and foreshadowed the fact that everything you were watching was an illusion. It was interesting to see a con movie where the audience was also 'conned'. The twists also make perfect sense and, after the initial shock, were meant to be predictable. When I say they make perfect sense, this is because there were many layers of deceit at play in the movie. Everyone is out to screw over someone different, and everyone thinks that the other characters are trying to screw over different people than they actually are trying to screw over. Because of this fact, everyone has to be convincing in their roles in the con, even with fellow members of the con. Because they all wanted a perfectly clean break they had to do a lot of acting in public to validate their story. All things considered, I'd say the ending was actually very clever and well set up.

reply

Wrong!

Remember one of the girls shot Foley!

reply

the T-bone with the girls is amazing though. because you expect it to happen riht after they take the money from the dentist. You expect them to get nailed right then and there. Then it goes to credits and you think "well I guess not". Then it just goes back to them real quick and BAM!!!!

brilliant.

I dont think he really planned it for 2 years, but then again, did he know he wasn't going to get 'employee of the month' because in the end we find out that Wendy is the one who wrote the bad review and got him fired. Or was that part of HER plan? God it was weird. But I dont think too much about it. I thought it was clever, and i loved it when he punched the a**hole bank manager in the face.

I gasped when Wendy shot David, really wasn't expecting that. I knew something would happen to Jack though because David, deep down, hated him.

reply

i didnt like this movie the first time. when it was called wild things.

reply

Yep, question is why on earth would an actor do that to himself? It's bad enough that a movie is a copycat, but same lead actor, that's low.

***So I've seen 4 movies/wk in theatre for a 1/4 century, call me crazy?**

reply

I agree...this was a good film and that was a great ending. It just goes to show ..you can't do dirt and get away with..oh and I am glad they shot that @ssclown in the bank!! LOL

reply

This movie had no real twists , very predictable if you ask me.

reply

I've got to agree. And boring. I mean, it would have been SO much better if the film ended with him just dying. Deus Ex Machina, anyone?

reply

As a lesbian con artist, I must say, this is the worst movie ever made.

reply

i saw the bus hitting them coming because the way the movie flowed it had to happen AND because of the speel about everyday someone is splattered on the front of an l.a. bus.

It would have worked about as well if they didn't get hit although....that raised the movie another half star imo.

How about a spoiler alert next time, a$$ clown?

I'm sorry but the movie was completely ruined by the ridiculous amount of twists at the end. It was so contrived and in no way made the movie and more "fulfilling". There is a reason this film got panned, it went completely overboard in the end. The theme and purpose completely change in the end to be some joke of a heist movie.

The twists wasn't predictable but I agree with bobbing-headz,I was enjoying the movie as a little dark comedy until its ridiculous final twists

Well said.

reply

I wouldn't call this the best twist ever but you know I paid five bucks for this film and I enjoyed it for it was. As for Wild Things, isn't this the character that Matt Dillon always plays.

No time for the old in-out, love, I've just come to read the meter

reply

I really enjoyed the whole thing. I wasn't expecting much when I decided to watch it, and up until the last 15 minutes or so it was a fun little dark comedy, then bam. My jaw dropped for the rest of the movie.

True the twists come out of nowhere and it does make it a bit cheesy, but it's not like the first hour and a half was really "serious". I think the absurd amount of twists fit with the comedy style.

It's definitely one of the most memorable endings I can think of.

reply

The first twist was nice, the second one okay. But this thing just kept twisting and turning untill I couldn't care less anymore. I was like "yeah, sure, whatever."

reply

it has about as good of a twist as a pretzel, after it's baked - but if you try to unwtist it the whole thing crumbles.

none of the narrative has purpose because too much of it advances a player's agenda for the audience, not another character.

you want to watch a proper heist twisty-turny movie, watch 'The Sting' or 'Criminal' (or its original 'Nueve reinas').

reply

I saw this movie on IFC tonight and *beep* *beep* worthless *beep* IFC ran ads for Monty Python over the credits but the movie continued while the credits ran and IFC SUCKS!!! for doing that.

*beep* are always running ads for another movie over the credits. Every movie is art and the credits are a part of the art. Running ads over the credits of anything on TV is desecration of art. ANYTHING, even a lameass sitcom.

OK, wanted to share that. I feel better now.
