Thats probably one of the worst top 10s i have ever read. I mean really!? More like top 10 disappointments!

reply

I know, that is... a very bad list. If I wanted to have discussions on film, the person who made that list would not be someone I went to. lol

reply

OMG that is a horrible list. lol.

reply

I totally agree! Awful top 10 list

reply

[deleted]

Pretty decent list.

I would take a couple of movies away from here, but that is a good list. I like how the people who disagree don't post their movies. Which I guess would be The Dark Knight and other craptastical movies.

RE: the OP, those are all good movies, so i wouldn't call the list "bad". but, really? you think of all the movies produced in the last ten years, three of the top 10 are richard kelly & two of them are charlie kaufman penned? I dunno about that. now, i don't think i'm capable of listing a comprehensive and satisfying top ten. that's tough something awful. i *will* however, give MY top ten AMERICAN movies of the 00's. I haven't seen nearly enough foreign films to attempt inclusion of those. anyway, so..

in no particular order...

the wrestler
the life aquatic
the man who wasn't there
zodiac
wet hot american summer
brick
synecdoche, ny
the assassination of jesse james by the coward robert ford
before the devil knows you're dead
man on wire

ok, here are some non-American releases that I thought of and now want to include:

shaun of the dead
irreversible
lady vengeance
the piano teacher

reply

10. Pride and Prejudice
09. A History of Violence
08. Black Hawk Down
07. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang
06. Children of Men
05. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
04. Minority Report
03. Kill Bill
02. Almost Famous
01. Love Actually

People have given me crap for my #1, but I don't care. No movie makes me as happy and is just as funny every time I re-watch it.

And I too, like the previous poster, haven't seen enough foreign films from this decade to really include any on my list.

Last Films Seen:
The Lovely Bones (5/10)
Up in the Air (9.5/10)

Children of Men was one of those movies I watched cause of loser like you saying it was good. It was one of the biggest wastes of time. Doo doo.

reply

Children of Men? Seriously? One of the best movies of the decade BY FAR. Why are you even on this board? To troll?

For relaxing times, make it Suntory time.

reply

Sorry, I have to agree with mfaulkner19 on this one. I thought Children of Men was trash.

reply

I have to agree there too.

Never understood the praise for that movie and it has quite a huge fan-base and among them lots of my friends. I don't know, i just never manage to connect to this movie. Watched it maybe twice after a good friend of mine recommended it to me and was rather disappointed for some reason. The idea was definitively there, but the execution wasn't. To each his own.

reply

CHILDRENA OF MEN AND WATCHMEN ARE AMAZING!

damn trolls with no taste. :P

reply

Yeah...I hated that movie. So *beep* preachy and what do you know the poor muslims are being persecuted. How and when is that going to happen? if you even mention being cafefull with adherents immigrating to the West your castigated by the powers that be and are lucky if you'll keep your job. There's nothing "brave" about taking an angle that is completely celebrated and will never be a detriment to your life or career. Now if you made a movie about white males being rounded up in a not so distant dystopic future now that would take balls...

In the paper today...tales of war and of waste
But you turn right over to the T.V. page

reply

Well, I do not knw why people give you crap about your # 1 choice, "Love Actually" is one of my favorite movie. I can rewatch it and still laugh, cry, and it makes me feel really happy.

reply

i would just like to say that is a very good list

The man who wasn't there, awesome! Good picks, but the rest, I can't agree, Brick was ok...

Dogville?? Jesus. No, Van Trier i abandoned a long time ago. Dancer in the Dark is the best thing he'll ever be able to do and even this one was just a bit better than ok thanks to Björk. Some directors i just don't get and he is one of them. My humble opinion of course.

reply

Dogville for sure is not for everyone - but I have to say his latest film Nymphomanic is close to cinematic perfection to me (but I enjoy the strange and unusual).
