just been aired in france

on Arte , a very small tv station yet available to anyone (almost) owning a TV .

the translated title was "the night of the hostages" ,blind flight can't be translated as such.

It really was a amazing film , true ,moving yet without any shortcuts/shortcoming .Some minor locations problems but nothing important.

the performances were absolutely stunning : strong without being over the top .

the subject of "hostages"
(lebanon ,irak, chechnya,indonesia,colombia,...,...,...)
has always been on the news in france for the last 20 years yet a piece like "blind fight" is almost unthinkable .

I also have to say that this was the first screening of this film (outside the festivals).

I just saw it here in France too. Wonderful to see movies in this country in V.O. And what a wonderful, enriching story it is. I tip my hat to the actors, especially. And to the Arte channel for picking it up. If it weren't for them, I probably would never see these terrific non-blockbuster films (saw Dogville recently as well on Arte). This film is an eye-opener.

However, I did miss the beginning.

I taped it, haven't seen it yet though.

I went to London theatre last year and saw "Someone who'll watch over me" by Frank McGuinness (with Aidan Gillen). It's the same story, only that they had 3 prisonners in a cell (one Irish, American and British).

BRILLIANT play!! It was so far one of the best - if not best - play I've seen ever..
