SPOILER ALERT: Who is Nehama?

SPOILER ALERT: I'm confused about the Nehama character. At first it seems she's just the woman who runs Nathi's daycare center, but then Michale & Nathi move in with her, implying a more intimate relationship. How are Michale & Nehama related? Are they supposed to be cousins? BFFs? What did I miss?
