The most unfunny American programme I've seen

And it didn't have anything else going for it either. I'm surprised it didn't get pulled half way through the first series!

This show was interesting when Tia was on there, now it's just okay. Sometimes I can't stand how Robert acts on the show.

reply

It's one of those cases where the standard is way too high and the programme can't compete.

'Girlfriends' and 'The Game' are way better. I really don't care for 'Everybody Hates Chris'.

You're nuts. LisaRaye is fine as hell.

Movies based on video games and video games based on movies totally suck.

Your reply to the most unfunny American programme I've seen......
"And it didn't have anything else going for it either. I'm surprised it didn't get pulled halfway through the first series."

***Speaking of which,it almost did.

Reasons:

1. During the first two seasons of the show, and after the end of the show's second season(which in my opinion should have been pulled then by the idiots at UPN),there were some major cast changes on the show. Actress Elise Neal was fired from the series by one of the executive producers on the show(one of them was Jada Pinkett-Smith and the other was Will Smith)and from what I heard there were tense moments behind the scenes of the set, including a confrontation between actresses Lisa Raye and Elise Neal not to mention Jada Pinkett-Smith. However, because of this,Elise Neal was fired from the show.

2. Elise Neal was replaced by Terri Vaughn(of The Steve Harvey Show)leaving other actors including Duane Martin and Lisa Raye to continue into the show's third season. Other changes were featured as well including bringing Tisha Campbell-Martin as a guest in several episodes. Tisha Campbell-Martin came along for the show's third season after the cancelled "My Wife and Kids" was canned by ABC.

3. Its amazing that the show remained on the air this long making the switch to another network after the UPN and the WB folded in 2006. It has been cancelled after the end of its fourth season.

4. if you thought this show was unfunny, check out House of Payne.

I don't get how a dude and his annoying ex-wife are just hanging out together like that. Their relationship just bugs me, and sadly that's what this show is built around. Dude, get that woman to stop controlling your so-called new independent life as a divorced man.

It's obvious they still wanted each other, and they made that apparent in many episodes. The reason they divorced was because Robert worked too much. Not because he cheated, wasn't a good father, etc. So when he made time for the family, it's like they unconsciously remarried. And if they got too close, they would pick a fight to make it seem like they're not feeling anything. But hey, TV is art, and art is various interpretations. You don't have to look at it my way. It's not Martin funny nor is it meant to be. But I do like how they showed what a divorce can be instead of the parents going at it all the time. Especially when a child is involved.

Thanks for the info. I didnt know that.

I was wondering why Tia broke up.

Question: Did Neesee and Robert get back together?

PS: I agree,, the House of Pains Suck

reply

Yeah really, i've tried to give this show a chance several times but it's just not good or funny, i've never laughed watching it. Maybe chuckled at the most but never laughed.

"Why... so... serious?"

About the only way to tell that it's supposed to be a comedy is that it has a laugh track.
