Help needed: mission = suicidal?

I don't get it
they began shooting and sporting their badass outfit well before entering the bank so just anybody would notice

and what with the escape part? I understand something went awry in there (fancy that)
but what was the idea--shooting their way out driving at ailing nail warp(ed) speed so in a month or three maybe they were sneaking out of state and of police reach?

I'd call that a slow suicide, rather than a pro heist
keystone robbers?
