In the aftermath of the North Hollywood shootout, LAPD patrol officers were equipped with M-16 assault rifles in order to take down heavily armored suspects.
Do you think it is a good idea to arm such officers with these kind of weapons?
In my personal opinion, seconds count in the event of a shootout between heavily armored and armed gunmen like Phillips and Matasareanu and mass casualties.

uh yeah sure in LA...you saw the guns they were selling in that gun store...if crims could potentially get them, cops should have them.

Note that most firearm crimes occur with illegaly obtained guns.

They have better guns now thanks to the strong manufacturer of firearms in America that provides cops and first responders the best firepower. Unlike places that turned into killzones like Mumbai and Paris. We actually have a chance to defend our precious lives with the best means possible.....

This kind of event is rare. Cops could be tempted to use excessive firepower in less appropriate situations and kill more innocent bystanders.
