What was the point of bringing Ryan's dad into the show just to....


... be yet another love interest for Julie Cooper? I was kind of excited when they brought in the character because I figured there would be a lot of potential there but he and Ryan barely have any screentime together. Seemed like kind of a waste.

I believe that the writers were out of ideas of who to put Julie with and they probably initially thought Frank Atwood would be a good Ryan story arc.

The show had just totally lost its way by Season 4, it was borderline fan fiction. I think if they'd done the Ryan Dad plot with the show having its creative *beep* together it could have been great, especially if Trey and Marissa were involved.
