Zach Stevens (Season 2)

First of all I just want say how much I LOVED Season 2

It was great to see Ryan, Marissa, Seth, and Summer go out on their own and date other people. And out of the new Core 4, Zach Stevens was the last to go on the show.

Having said that, did anyone else wonder why Michael Cassidy didn't get a opening credit for season 2. He was in 19 episodes (bulk of the series, Dude) He was in just as many episodes as Luke Ward in season 1 (a guy who also got to be in the credits ;)

I know it's not a big deal lol, but we didn't even get closure with his character.

DJ, Lindsay, and Alex all got their big send off explanation, but why not him?

Was it just because he was a senior and we assumed he just graduated and went away to college?

I just liked his character a whole lot and felt it was a cheap cop-out to just have the Core 4 just never mention him again.

I think there were plans for him to pop up in season 3 but they were dumped. The early seasons of the show definitely had it setting up to be a long term show ... kinda like 90210. The show crashed hard core toward the middle end of season 3. There were actually plans to have Caleb return during season 3 at one point but I think the actor opted out for "Lost".

Too bad .. I really did like this show :(

I'm watching the show for the first time now and agree Zach was a great character. I liked having Seth have another friend and the dynamic he brought was really great. I wish he could have stayed on for the next seasons. I also think there should have been closure with him. Did they even provide closure for the comic book thing? I don't remember what happened after the meeting with George Lucas.

I just finished the show, and they never really go into it, but when Seth goes to Brown for the college visit, Anna has a copy of it and it helps him get an interview to RISD. Also, at some point in season 4, someone actually recognizes Seth from the comic. Apparently it was somewhat successful, but I wish they would've provided some closure for that storyline!

I thought Zach was great and I thought he brought a lot to the show. One of my favorite moments with him was when he was telling Seth about his fling with his tutor and then says, "I really like her kids." The randomness of that line and the look on Seth's face killed me. Lol

First of all, LOVE the Lebowski reference. 👍

Second, I agree with you. I'm rewatching the show now and am near the end of S2 and can't help but wonder what the hell happened to Zach after this year. I think the other poster above me up there is right, there were plans to bring him back, but they couldn't (I could be wrong, but Michael Cassidy *may* have gotten cast in another show during the offseason that never actually got picked up or something). But yeah, I don't remember liking him as much as I do when the show was first on, but he really was a sweetheart. His "you can't fight fate" line at the airport in Rainy Day Women always gets me.

The Rainy Day Women was one of the best episodes and one of the most heart felt.

Sandy letting go of Rebecca, Ryan letting go of Lindsay, Summer realizing she still loves Seth, Marissa wanting to love Alex, and Kirsten wanting to feel loved like she used to.

Yeah, Zach was nice when he sent Seth a Christmas card with apology included. And even after Seth won Summer back, Zach still wanted to be friends with them both.

And we can't hate Zach for trying to win Summer back later, because Seth did the same thing to him early in the season ;)

Yeah, I'm rewatching it too, and I can't believe that they couldn't get Maria Thayer on the show. But then again, she's a pale redhead and Orange County would be bad for her beautiful porcelain skin.

I digress lol, Happy New Year!

It is a classic! One of my all-time favorite TV episodes ever, not just among O.C. episodes. :)

Anyway Happy New Year to you too! Enjoy your O.C. rewatch.

They didn't make him a series regular in Season 2 because it was cheaper to have him as a recurring guest star, so that's why he wasn't in the credits.

I thought he got a lousy sendoff too, they should have brought him back in Season 3 with Atomic County filming a movie AT Harbor or something. That would have been better than the garbage Seth lying plot.

Zach was my favourite additions to season two, besides Trey coming back.
Zach made the group better for the guys, I loved the interactions with them. Zach was great with the girls too, Michael had great chemistry with the cast. I also liked that during the comic book storyline he was able to turn into a villain slightly. His ending was terrible and his brief mention in season three was just wrong. Zach should've stayed on, he would have been better than Willa being promoted.

I think his character was perfectly written and acted.
And Season 2 is my least favorite season (I don't count Season 4 which was basically a different show!)

He brought about so many good scenes and relationships; even Seth & Summer fans liked him, he was a great, sweet boyfriend to Summer without being threatening in the long run, yet in a natural way, where you didn't just want him/his storyline to be rushed...

I'm glad he/the comic book got a mention in Season 3.

I just assumed they stopped hanging out at school?
