Danny -series finale

I was a little surprised that Danny decided to go with Fiona and leave his wife who was institutionalized. There was also no mention of his daughter Holly either. What would happen to her? I didn't like Danny's character. He seemed above everyone else in UCOS, and I don't mean in height. He was always trying to impress the others, and was aloof. At times he was helpful to others, but his aloofness was tedious.
