My favorite characters from GDW and GNG are Cross and Rocket; following them are George, Smith, GB, Mel, and John.
The rest of the main or at least semi-important characters I would rank about like this…
Gin, Riki, Weed, Ben, Jerome, Hook, Ken, Wilson, Teru & father, Kyoushiro, Kurotora, Tesshin, Kagetora, Akatora, Hiro, Hyena, Sniper, Akame, Sasuke, Shigure, Reika, Moss, Sakura, Musashi, Toube, Tokimune, Oliver, Benizakura, Hakuro, Kurojaki, Kisaragi, Bill.
And as for their enemies, I like them in about this order:
Kamakiri, Akakabuto, Hougen, Lector/Thunder, Kaibutsu, Blue, Genba, Nero.

Gin is my favorite. I never really got why everyone loved John or Jerome so much in the series. They didn't really do anything to me and

I felt nothing when they died. But, yeah, whatever.
Weed was alright even though he was sort of an idiot. But GB was my personal favorite in GDW.
