Does anyone know if there are somebody who have ever thought of doing a remake of the serie? Cuz with the technology they have today within animation, I think it could be great, just as long they keep the real story and doesn't try to make a sequal to it.
If they did make a movie of it, I'll be one of the first to stand in line at the movies to see it.
The animation is very 80's-like, and sloppy at times, but the story covers for it. I was actually thinking if they ever made a movie version (animation) for the generations who haven't seen this old, great series, but there are so many stories within the story that it would be impossible.
Silver weed? The animation was way better than the new one.. GNG was made in the 80's. Ginga densetsu weed was made 2005.. and what was the series to the old fans?
Hello. I am a Norwegian guy who LOVES the Silver Fang movies. When I was a kid and saw Silver I liked it alot. I saw it in the dubbed Norwegian language. Now in these days I miss Silver, I would really like to see it again, but the VHS movies of it is totally history, and it was not to find on DVD. But one day it came out "Re-constructed"(?) with new dubbed Norwegian voices. I got them for christmas this year, and now that I watched them it SUCKED!! The movie in itself is GREAT, but the so-called "Re-constructed" version was realy bad. The original voices and music is played, but as the voices is to be dubbed they have just turned down the volume and talked in some Norwegian voices and turned the volume up again when nobody says smoething. I was shocked! So I just wonder if the movies exists in English dubbing. I think that would be kinda cool. Are you guys Americans by the way? Did you see it dubbed as american, or did you see it on the original language? Wish somone can answer me.
First time I saw Ginga Nagareboshi Gin (Silver Fang) it was dubbed in Swedish, very good Swedish acting too. I don't think it was released in English but if you do love Silver Fang I suggest you get the uncut Japanese versions. They kick ass!
Stianbrekka, I'm from Denmark and they did the exact same thing with the Danish version; switched the dubbing with new, HORRIBLE voices. It's very frustrating, but at least it's the full uncut version.
Oh that doesen't sound too bad, I guess its just a matter of taste... I just saw original finnish dub version and it rocks. Too bad its not full version, but voice overs in this version are great fun!
Norwegian girl, here. I fell in love with this series as a kid as well. But I longed to see the series in the original language, so for that the re-constructed DVD's works really well. I love getting the choice between the two, cause I'm a nut for getting animé in their original language. But I am gonna get the old DVD's as well with the good Norwegian voices, as well :) Cause I have an attatchment to those.
I still lack DVD 1 and 5 for the re-constructed DVD's, and I'm having a hard time finding them. Can anyone help me find them?
Well Actually I hope they don't make a remake... I just saw the extended version ('cause in Denmark alot of the bloody scenes were cut out) and in my oppinion I think that the way the animations are made is a big part of the charm and nostagia of the series... I personally haven't seen the sequal about Silvers son named Weed(!?) but the images I have seen just gives me the thought that it doesn't have the same charm and nostalgia like the first one....
Yup, this guys knows what it´s about. it´s not the flashy empty animations like they had in Weed, it´s the feel you get from the 80s charm that can´t really be done anymore. Why ruin that... Look at Berserk, the original may cost less but is much better
I'm from Denmark and love ''Silver Fang''. I understand you don't like the animation, but I think it's a charm for the movie. And I LOVE ''Silver Fang''! I think it would be a shame if they made more ''Silver Fang''. And I always see the series in Japanese, whith danish subtittles.
From Denmark aswell, i can't believe how much I miss watching this, i remember when i was a kid, i was glued to the screen throughout the first 3 VHS tapes, and when i found out my mother couldn't find the finalt fourth tape i cried for days! I finally got it some months later and as i sit now and remember this i can't believe how enthralled and amazed i was. This is truthfully the wierdest nostalgic fealing that has ever caught me, but i miss Silver Fang so much it hurts.
I've got the exact same nostalgic feelings about the Silver Fang VHS tapes. I remains with me forever since i watched them a thousand times as a kid. It's truely an amazing piece.
I've recently accuired the full uncut GNG (old series) with japanese dubbing and english subtitles and the new GDW (new series, Ginga Densetsu Weed) wich is somewhat almost as good as the orignal. And are both very reccomandable for true fans.
I just want to share my opinion about this series. I saw it for the first time a couple of weeks ago, at I barely could leave the tv to go to bed. It's really a great story and the "bad" animation makes you focus more on the things behind the visuals.
I saw the first 3-4 episodes alone because my girlfriend thought I was a jerk to see a 20 year old japaneese serie for kids. But she was sleping through a episode (or at lease I thought se did), and after that we wached the rest of them together....!!
I deeply recomends everybody to give this great story a chance!!
Oh my god, a remake of an classic like GNG would be a disaster. I would compare it to a remake of The Godfather. Totaly brutal to change something thats already the best it can be. They released the uncut japanese version a while ago and its amazing.
The closest to a remake youcan come is the relative new GDW anime, wich should not even be compared to an anime like GNG, but if you love the GNG like i do, see it just for the story. Although i strongly suggest you read the manga instead, start with the manga about Shiro and Riki, its amazing!
If they ever made a remake of GNG, I'd boycot it. Deffinitely. I LOVE GNG, it's basically my favorite movie, and it meant a lot to me as a kid. It's a classic, and DOES NOT need to remade. If anything it should be released again for younger audiences. To this day, I'm still scared of bears hehe..
I think a remake could work if done as a Rated PG-13 perhaps even Rated R CG film. Like a severely demented and violent version of Disney's Bolt! Because in addition to GNG/GDW being a completely amazing story it is also one of the goriest animes I have ever seen (Decapitations, impalement's, eye-gouges, castrations! Ginga FTW!!!)
I'm a Norwagian girl and I got my first Silver Fang VHS (number3) when I was a little kid, and with Swedish voices for some reason ;) I don’t like the Norwegian one after seeing the Swedish one first.
And I was fascinated and scared of it. The VHS was rated with 9years, and I think that's too little. Not sure I would let my 9 year old watch it. I loved it after I got used to it. To me the Swedish version is the one that bring back all the right memories. Even though I now own the uncensored Japanese version.
Not sure if I’d appreciate a remake. The original one will always be the best. But if they make it, I’m sure I’ll watch it.
I must also admit that I think some parts of it still sadness me when I watch it now. And I’m soon to be 21 ;) All the sacrifices and the amazing music do it for me.
I would like to see a remake of the series. As long as they have the episode's and not put any filler in, then I'm fine. Also, Funimation should do it because they have distributed tons of Anime and they are good with English Dub's. The animation should be just like, Ginga Densetsu Weed, because I will admit that sometimes the animation can be a little dated. They should also do the same with, Ginga Densetsu Weed.
I would want the movie genre being animation. And to cover the whole story, why not make a seties, kinda like Harry Potter? In choosing a studio, it could be one that wants to keep the violence and all that stuff intact, or probably Dreamworks.
