I think that was the only part of this film i didn't like, it was sad and unnecessary :)

Cody didn't need to be "saved". He presumably returned to the men that left him on the Belafonte in the first place, thus completing his arc. It was great.

Cody's fine, he doesn't need bumbling humans to help him. He probably befriends that boy on the beach.
