A Buckaroo Banzai Tribute?

I just watched this movie for the first time. While I loved its quirky humor and underplayed sense of style, I saw this movie as being nearly a shot-by-shot homage to W.D. Richter's 1984 cult classic The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. The closing credits particularly pay tribute to Buckaroo. In fact, Team Banzai and Team Zissou have a common member -- Jeff Goldblum. Thoughts? Discuss.

Spot on. And where are all the threads? 1 page of discussion?

It's not my goddamn planet. Understand, monkey boy?

Yes! Just watched this for the first time. When they were shown having some down time by diving into the frozen pool, Bill Murray said words to the affect of "Stop, listen. Is there somebody crying?" That buckaroo moment jumped right out at me.

Holy crap good catch!! You're 100% right!

I am shocked too. I came by the board thinking there would be 100 pages to sift through. Odd.

After awhile IMDB will delete old threads. I've seen it done on other older movie boards. Kind of stupid if you ask me.
