Who was seduced by the dark side?

I was just curious on which path everyone took and why. I myself was tempted by the dark side, (if you got a choice of picking troopers up by the troat and throwing them at crowds or simply turnin them against their comrades I think we all know which would be coolest) but I do know there are people out there how kept to the staight and narrow.

For me it was the Darkside, because the Darkside is let's face it, more fun. I always drain power from stormtroopers, force choke people, and last but not least, the force lightning. And you're right, turning the bad guys against eachother, all though not actually a darkside attribute, puts the most evil grin on my face. Besides one of the biggest reasons I chose the darkside in this game was because not only would I get to kill that whiney little Rosh bastard, but I'd get a chance to take on Kattarn. I really hate that motherf**ker. But I did try once where I actually stayed a goodguy throughout the whole thing, but it wasn't as fun.

reply

My point exactly! Its so obvious that Rosh was voiced by the guy who does Tino in the weekenders (well its obvious if you've seen the show) and every time he speaks its like 'Tino!! Why are you a Jedi? oh you're Rosh' so you have to kill him just so he stops pissing me off. ;)

It's good to know that I'm not the only one that Rosh annoyed the living crap out of. Seeing the lightsaber beam its way through his torso makes it all worth while, although, when you stay on the lightside, Alora cuts off his arm which is cool in itself. But than again, if you don't turn dark you don't get to kick Kattarn's @$$. So we all have to make our sacrifices. However it is too bad that Kattarn lives when you're done fighting him. As you can tell, Kattarn for me ranks up in the annoying SW charecters just below Jar Jar Binks, and right above C3PO taking the spot reserved for Dex (the 4 armed cook in the diner sequence).

reply

Ha ha ! LOL! Katarn is indeed annoying, I am glad I am not the only one there! So is Rosh damn. Oh and Katarn has a lame neck-lace or soemthing.
And it si true the light-side kinda sucks in this game. absorb en protection???? come one man! Lightning yeah!

reply

I dont find Katarn so annoying, he sometimes says funny things like :
Luke: You are a jedi
Katarn: No, I am just a guy with a lightsaber

I honestly beat it for the Light Side Ending first, since nearly every single LucasArts game has it set up to where the Light Side ending is the actual ending and the Dark Side version is an interesting 'What-if' story.

I think they intentionally made Rosh annoying so you wouldn't feel bad about cutting him down and going down the Dark Path.

As for force powers, I used a mix of both sides: Heal, Absorb, Grip, Lightning. Heal is always an essential power to me (because drain is easily countered by enemy force users which are the majority later in the game when you might actually need the health). Absorb came in handy since there are numerous unarmed cultists that abuse push, grip and lightning while you're saber-fighting other cultists- by using absorb, they give you a free supply of force, letting you have nearly-unlimited heal, push, pull, jump, speed and sight (I once had absorb, protect, speed and sight all active at once, and still had force to spare because of those guys). Lightning for me was just a quick way to clear a room of storm troopers, since it doesn't do enough damage to the force-using enemies to justify starting the fight with no force left.

Of course, Grip and push were my most used powers by far. With a quick hand, nearly every enemy force user can be killed with a combination of grip and either jump or push to fling them into the air. Heck, I've made it through the entire Chandrila stage without ever using a weapon. You can even use Jump and Grip to throw Tavion high enough into the air to kill her without ever pulling your saber.

I do normally stay on the lightside. I only turned dark Jedi because I wanted to beat Kattarn's sorry @$$. (okay I've voiced my hatred for Kattarn quite enough) But I discovered recently, it's fun to be a Jedi for the good side, but have more Darkside attributes than light. Because when I'm fighting the Sith cultists, it's better to fight fire with fire. Another fun thing to do is force grip a Sith Lord by the throat and drop him off a ledge or into a pit of lava. Puts an evil grin on my face.

I'm just like you, because the dark side is the coolest to me. I would like to have a name with a DARTH in front of it.

I went Dark side, mostly because i so wanted to kick Rosh's ass. fighting Kyle was good too, and i am glad I chose 2 single blades instead of a doubleended blade. Kyle often pulled one blade away I could still fight him with the 2nd blade.

Have done the light side once, but usually prefer to go dark.

i took vaders ship and left Korriban(Dark Side Ending)

I actually finished the game with both sides. Both were pretty good but I prefer the dark side coz even the force powers are better, like lightning and grip. I always liked lightning for 'mass-murdering' and I just don't bother fighting cultists. I just use grip and catapault them away. I always liked going against my own ppl and chopping Rosh feels good. Fighting my own master, and winning, was great as well.

I chose to end the game on the Dark side the first time...Rosh just pissed me off, plus I got into character (made my character look dark with the robotic arm) so I just had to finish it how I started.
Good vs Dark, I'd choose the dark powers. The game is harder if you try to play it through on just the good powers, don't believe me, try it. I also played it through with only the dark powers. Out of both endings the best ending was the Dark ending, but the fighting for the Good ending is simply fun.
My favorite was trying to keep the Jedi alive and helping as many of them as possible. I think at one point I even got 5 Jedi alive to fight along side me....man I'm going to play now...one question. Who is Alora and is she in any of the movies/books, what's her story?

reply

I think im in between the darkside and the lightside.

firstly i played as the lightside of tha force, and tried to save as many jedi as possible during the final stages of the game, but then after that i played the darkside part of the story and had fun killing everything in site, including tha jedi and Rosh,:)

when against cultists i loved using "grip power" to choke and hold the enemy and then throw my lightsaber at them. instant kill!

and about throwing lightsabers i loved the double sided saber, reasons why i loved it, cause of the fast-fighting style and the ability to retract one side so u can still throw your saber :D

Speaking of choke...what is everyones favorite method of destruction. Personal favorite tossing people off with force push or choke.

reply

Force Jump -> Force Grip -> Force Push = Could throw an opponent distances

Funny method

I liked walk near enemies, jumping occasionally, and then using this trick along with a pet ( force mind trick )

I liked long RPG fights
I loved the Kyle katarn fight

Would LOVE a sequel to Jedi Knight

I beat it both ways, and now I have beaten it thanks to the power of modding like 30 times.

I had all darkside powers excet force heal which comes in handy, however I chose the light side when the time came. Man I hated Rosh from the first time he spoke and then when he sics the droid on you in the training area I wanted to give him the Anakin (chopping off his arms and legs and setting him on fire). I was soo glad I got to kick his ass in that one level.

reply

before I bought the game I played it in a shop. because we had trouble playing MOHA, I started with Jedi, then quickloaded and fought against Tavion. beat her, then beat Katarn and became dark. yeah, it was a saved game from somebody else who had gone dark, so it spoiled me half of the game.

so when I started playing my own game, at home, first I went Light, because, let's face this too, happy endings make people happy. and while I didn't like Rosh, having him asking for mercy was fun too. If I were in the same position of Jaden I would mentally torture him to the point of making him *beep* his pants, then let him live.

then I played it again but this time I killed him, to see how the rest of the game developed. you know, thankfully I was playing in God mode, because I'm just not good enough to take out reborns, cultists and Jedis altogether.

but until the point you kill (or not) Rosh, there's nothing that may say that Jaden is going to be on the dark side.

about poweres, Lightning and Grip were WMDs, for normal enemies. for force users, I tried everytime to take them close to a cliff and force push them, and when I got my very own staff saber, kick them.

Nobody makes me bleed my own blood. NOBODY

I played the Dark side ending and found it to be more challenging. Since I usually play good side and like the good side, this also felt kinda forbidden which made me feel thrilled. But I enjoy the good side ending the most even though it feels kinda lame, especially the dialouge.

Rosh did irritate me and I got the thrill of a kill when i did DS, but I don't have it in my heart to do it if was for real. Had nothing against Kyle though and don't understand what people have against him. He's cool I think, always calm and collected.

When it comes to powers I always combine the light side and dark side this way: Mind trick and heal+Lightning and Grasp. These are core force abilities to me.

Usage: I honestly use the mind trick only on the mercs and stormtroopers, since they are medium in strenght and does good damage before they die. Did U know U can use mind trick on the Rancor? Not sure about the mutated one though.

Heal is frequently used as I usually do berserker kind of tactics and retreat for healing. Though I have greater respect for Sabers. Don't underestimate the power of the Tusken mace either. In the master level of difficulty I got killed with one hit of that thing.

Lightning is best against groups of weak enemies but can be effective against FU if used properly. If U played Knights of the Old Republic and have got master lightning (called Force storm) that one is the coolest lightning by far.

Grasp is most effective on medium targets if there is lava or a cliff nearby as they will be killed when they land (muahhahahaah and Nyahahahaha)
Water? can kill also if U drop them in there since they don't swim (losers) and will eventually drown.

Push/pull I find that it is useful the most when at mastery level. Be near a cliff or lava lake, in a safe way gather some lighter, non-flying, enemies near into a small crowd and either force jump and then force pull. Or face them with their cliff behind them and use push on the whole lot, once and it is a bungyless way down or the hottest bath they ever took.

Strange that such sadistic behavior doesn't instantly bring U to the dark side.

In games like this, I always save at the turning point and go to the Dark Side. After I beat down the bad guys and take over the galaxy, I go back and stay on the good side.

After all, who wouldn't want to shoot lightning bolts from their bare hands?

Though I always get Heal to level 3 first. Definetly the most useful.
