He chose to do Liar, Liar instead. Why didn't he return for this sequel?

Do you mean Jim Carrey? I think he was going to be in The Mask 2 when it was originally supposed to come out in the '90s. After he read the script he turned it down the same way he turned down the sequel for Bruce Almighty. Wise decision.
I'd like to see Jim Carrey in another comedy soon. I didn't really care for "I Love You Phillip Morris".
