Can anyone explian the ending.. they are sitting on the lawn, obviously exhausted.. or Fu**ed out as her black friend said they would be..
but are they back together??

Well, I think the writers/directors wanted the ending to be ambiguous to give the film that "cautionary example" feeling to it, but the optimist in me thinks that they get back together.

We all learn by the end that Alice wants Ed back, and I don't think Ed would walk that far to get back to their house/give Alice a book of stamps if he didn't want to get back together with her.

I'd say chances are pretty good that they got back together. They may not have stayed together, but between the way she touched his face and him giving her the stamps, they tried to make a go of it.

Are you kidding? It was shown in detail how she felt miserable and shallow while seeing the other guy. After her suggestion of seeing other people, she perfectly knew she had made a big mistake and, therefore, asked her fiancé to stop seeing other people. Sure, for a moment, she felt the thrill and the excitement, but she knew she was not going to be happy without him.
It was also the same thing for him. At first, he felt the excitement and the thrill, but later saw that going out with the crackhead was not such a good idea, after all. I have never been fond of marrige for me, but based on the movie, the couple would have to be dumb not to go back to each other.

Alice might have made a big mistake, but he was having the time of his life. The crackhead was just a ticket to a threesome, and put him through far less drama than Alice. The character is an idiot of course and will likely get back together and end up raising a kid "conceived during the honeymoon" but that will for some reason remind him of Donald.

Don't blame it on him. What were you expecting? For the guy to be drowning in his own tears, while slutty Alice was the one having the time of her life, especially with the garden keeper. Don't forget it was always her idea. In fact, it was her boyfriend who wanted to talk her out of it. The crackhead, at first, was not the ticket to a threesome. He was entitled to go out with anybody he wanted to. Unfortunately, he chose somone unsuitable for him.
