a Christian film?

I'm just watching it and and am in the middle of the sunshine family part and I can't stop the feeling that this is a Christian movie but I'm not sure...
The sunshine family is just too weird...

I don't think the movie is trying to make any statement about religion or politics, besides showing that people can be good or bad regardless of their religious or political beliefs. It would be easy to make fun of someone like Mama Sunshine but I think he does a good job showing how she is a good person. Then there's Earl/Bob who is Christian but also does evil things, Aviva's mom who acts out of love for her daughter but ultimately takes away her right to choose, etc. I like how mature and evenhanded this movie is about abortion and religion.

If anything, it explores how radical fundamental Christians can be very destructive. My mom was a Christian (RIP Mom) and we would watch a lot of my favorite films together. For someone who was such a fanatic, my mom had a pretty high threshold for worldly tolerance. If I'd have shown her this film, she would've considered it blasphemous and shrieked hysterically that there was something wrong with me for finding value in such a disgusting film.

So, in answer to your question: Hell, no!
