This movie messed me up!

OMG I wanst right for months after wathhing this film. I found it to be weird, strange, odd, disgusting... I don't know it was just too much for me. I have very eclectic taste in film, but this movie just frankly messed me up... Just a warning to possible viewers

I feel like this is EXACTLY why people should watch this film.. because it messes you up in some strange way. Very few films stick with me the way this one did.

reply

I agree. There was so much wrong...It was awkward and every Aviva was so strange. Plus the pairings were like intentionally pedophilic to me. It was a total Clorox movie.

This is everything independent cinema should be, but is afriad to be 99.99% of the time. This film is a masterpiece. It really didn't get a fair shake.

reply

That's probably what thinking does to you.

reply

Oh man, i watched this movie high (green). Bad idea. haha! Well, it wasn't that bad. I actually enjoyed the movie in a weird way. It was hella trippy!! LOTS of interesting philosophical undertones.

i also had a headache after watching this movie smh

reply

I wouldn't suggest watching this movie unless you're okay with feeling sorta sick after.

Only the first Solondz movie I saw (Happiness) made me feel physically ill. Maybe you just get desensitized and you know what's coming the second time. They are very intelligent movies if you can get past the disturbing subject matter.

reply

Agreed. I was a little shocked and disgusted (in a good way, if that's possible) after seeing Happiness, and found Palindromes to be a little lighter. It was more surreal than disturbing.

reply

i couldn't even finish watching it, it was terrible to my eyes, my ears, my everything! i couldn't take anything seriously.

I watched this movie around 3 years ago, and I still think about it... Everything about it is just extremely disturbing, but oddly fascinating. However I certainly would not recommend it to anyone, I am still shocked that a movie like this can be made- although it definately makes you think.

I waited for u, why didn't u write me? I wrote u 365 letters, I wrote u everyday for a year!

reply

perhaps i'm already too messed up, but these films dont have that effect on me...they are just good art which i enjoy watching...actually i was just smiling through most of this movie...or laughing...like the things the mother said when preaching about why aviva had to abort, i was rolling in laughter :)...

reply

Too right...

I think that the vast majority of people in this thread need to man the *beep* up.

I love this film, exactly because it's so brutal, but yet so funny. It cuts right toe heart of the issues that surround it, without being an opinionated, issue film.

I don't understand how people who are disturbed by this film can handle the world around them. Maybe they block out the problems of society so much that when they are displayed to them in such a matter of fact way, they can't manage them.
