I like it, but have a small complaint.

I'm kinda hoping Hackman will step out of retirement for a little bit so that this isn't his last movie. I hope even someone who highly enjoyed this can understand that!

I'm right there with ya. I enjoyed this movie, it's a simple little feel-good flick that's constantly on cable, and there's nothing really wrong with it. I just think it's not quite the swan song for a guy with the career of Gene Hackman. I would have liked to see him in a slightly weightier project.

He probably had fun doing a light comedy, so who can blame him?

I wouldn't have been upset if his final film had been Heist in 2001. I think that one would perhaps satisfy the people who weren't big fans of The Replacements. I remember that having just come out the year before, and dominating HBO in the summer of 2001 shortly before Heist came out, which I then saw in the spring of 2002. The debate over whether he looks better with or without a mustache could have been resolved with that film as well, because he has both in the movie.

Best thing would be if he and Connery would team up for one final project. And since Nicholson seems to be wrapping up his career, he could join in too and make something epic. Preferably not a buddy movie though.
