I realize this is a super old post, but why the hell is that your favorite scene?

There are plenty of scenes that come to mind, but one of my favorites is near the end (spoilers) where Trevor solves his hangman puzzle and is revealed to be the killer. Christian Bale's acting when he tells himself, "I know who you are," along with flashbacks of him crying after nailing the kid on the road always pull at my heart's strings.

I wouldn't say the fun house scene was my favorite but, it was definitely the most memorable. And looking back on it, it makes sense that the scene was hallucinated( the boy who is driving the car inside of the fun house, the scary guy holding a severed hand, the car accident with blood and guts splattered, the sketchy motel-alluded to his fling with the prostitute.Though the scene was disturbing, it was also very significant. I think my favorite scene is when he can't find Maria at his favorite coffee stop and has a temper tantrum. "I WANT MARIA!", the peoples faces around him are priceless.

His freakout scenes are great. Another good one is when he is with Stevie. "Ivan's your ex isn't he... YOU WHORE!"

I thought that scene was very well-done.

The atmosphere, the reality continually intruding into the hallucination, and I also liked the way Bale's character was talking to the kid throughout the ride -- very naturalistic acting ~

That scene always reminded me of a time when I took my son to a local wrestling show. It was a charity / fundraising card it ran with an afternoon - then evening card. We got tickets to both and it started fine enough, lots of comedy matches, character driven stuff. Then it grew more and more into extreme - hardcore stuff as the night rolled on. We finally had to leave when one guy started to stab another guy with a fork, bloody spraying all over the place.

I love that scene too. It really brings the whole movie together well when you finally get a glimpse of the pre-hit and run Trevor who looked normal, had a cool car, went fishing with friends and get to compare it to the shadow of Trevor that the movie has followed.

I think an underrated scene is when he throws himself in front of a car to get Ivan's information. Not only does he go through the experience and the pain of being hit by a car, but then shows up to the police station to report the hit and run and gives his plate number. So something inside of him reported his hit and run without him realizing, that was pretty powerful.

He's doomed to pay for this one way or another.
