First they refuse to show it at the theather... now this...

Well it looks like Warner Brothers will not be releasing one of the best movies of the year to U.S. audiences in a nation wide release.

This includes a home video or cable t.v. release.

Warner Brothers has pulled all future release information of this film.

Outlets (Amazon.com, comingsoon.com, dvdpricesearch.com, metacritic.com, etc.) showed a release date of early January 2006. Now it has been pulled completely or changed to "no date" or "coming soon" status.

Any and all information about any future theatrical showings, home video release, or television showings has been removed from all Warner Bros. websites.

It appears that those lucky enough to see Duma in it's extremely limited release will be the only ones to see this fantastic film.

Why Warner Bros. treated this wonderful film so poorly will always remain a complete mystery.

Howzit

I still have not seen this film since it came out, but I am aware of the fact that it is in a DVD Rental place in my area, so hopefully I will be seeing it soon.

kalahari.net is selling Duma for R142 rand, approx $22. It is a South African web shop. I myself am South African. The dvd is Zone 2 however, and thus recorded in PAL format, and not NTSC (Zone 1).

Good Luck

It's currently showing here in Chapel Hill, NC. So maybe there is hope!

Not sure what your source is, but you may want to drop it from your list... it's showing here in the SF Bay Area.

Warner Brothers is my source. You can find and verify all information in my post through their various web sites. As well as the DVD information from the sites I mentioned as others.

BTW I never said that the film wouldn't be released. I said that all information about any future releases and a national release was pulled. For example http://dumamovie.warnerbros.com/ is still showing that it is only playing in New York and Los Angeles, and www.warnerbrothers.com has pulled the film from the '05/'06 showing/release schedule.

I am sure any current releases were contracted before WB decided to kill this film.

I would also like to point out that Barry Lyndon is showing at a local theather... Has Warner Brothers released that nation wide?

It's showing in San Luis Obispo, CA at the Palm theatre- they usually have a lot of barely-released independent movies.

Well, as I posted in the two dvd threads, the release date is showing on Amazon as Jan 1, 2010! I ordered it anyway, thinking it must be a mistake. Who knows. However, it IS available on DVD in other regions. I may order one, as I have a multi-region dvd player. However, I WOULD like to see it in a theater anyway - there's nothing like a big screen viewing - and since I don't have a home theater of my own...

I missed it by a couple of days when it was playing in Manhattan and I'm mad at myself. I live on Long Island and couldn't get into the city before it was gone. Hopefully it will be shown in another theater here, or somewhere near I can get to.

I guess it's just wait and see at this point. I sure wish they'd update the official site with theater listings.

Duma is finding new life on the art house circuit. Theatre owners started to request the film in the fall and it played in December in Orlando and Chapel Hill, NC. It opened 1/6/06 in Minneapolis and in four theatres in San Franciso area. It is scheduled to open over the next two months in the following cites: Albany, Boston, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, New Haven, Seattle. The film performed so well in San Francisco opening weekend, with no advertising, that Warner Bros. handed it over to Warner Classics, which is now attempting to book the film into art house theatres around the country through early spring when the DVD will be released. If you have an independent or art house theatre in your community, they should be hearing from the studio but if you are interested you should request it and encourage them to book the film.
