Worst animal flick!! Worst acting by a adolescent!!!

Never in my humble animal loving life would I have ever thought there could be a bad animal kingdom flick that I would not love. I cant lie about that boy's acting which explains why he has not been called to Hollywood ..THANK GOD! Let this flick be a lesson to all you directors out there ..the actors you pay agencys to choose for your projects, could make or break YOUR PROJECTS! Mainly the ones whose face is going to be in the camera the longest ..common sense

I just watched Duma b/c Im on an animal kingdom roll in documentaries and movies but when I got to Duma, all I could do is shake my lil head. This had potential but we couldn't even develop a general warmth towards the cheetah b/c the boy's delivery was so stiff. How he lucked out on this role is beyond me. The cheetah's gorgeous eyes and Eamonn Walker carried the entire film due to Eamonn's acting skills & being such a professional. They were the only reason our family didnt pull the DVD out, because the story-line wasnt even that good! Not be mean or anything in my last paragraph, but I dont want to ever see another animal kingdom flick go to hell due to bad choice in actors. WE NEED MORE and more family flicks w/ pets!

First of all, compared to other kids in so many other animal films ..this kid had no presence and looked less then average. He showed no emotions and his face always had an expression of disgust (or frown), while in it's natural form. Unfortunately, he never smiled so the audience is stuck looking at a long face thru most of the movie. If he did, we must have blinked or it was lacking in sincerity. Even when he and his father found the baby cheetah on the side of the road, the kid's expression was of one half excited to find a dead cat. It was obvious he wasnt an animal lover & didnt care to portray one. Now lets take Freddie Highmore who did wonderful in The Two Brothers http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338512/ (121 reviews vs. Duma's 38) That kid killed it and we leave feeling blissful & extremely warm towards the cats (after boo hooing like big babys) b/c he was convincing and kind hearted ..where in this flick, I was so glad the cheetah could finally get away from that drabby kid lol omg ..and glad it ended! Even first time actor Thabo Malema did farely well in White Lion (I cried in that too lol) ..We watched it 4x's already lol

Well I guess you didn't like Alex's acting then ? ;-)
He was chosen for the role, in part, because he actually owns cheetahs and has been around them all his life. Many people quite liked him in the role but you are obviously entitled to your opinion ;-) Funny you should mention 'Two Brothers' ..... I always understood that the reason Duma didn't get a wide theatrical release was because Two Brothers did so poorly at the box office? I know I didn't really like Two Brothers .... guess it's just a matter of taste and we have to agree to disagree ;-)

The kid was great. The OP's review was a chore to read, worst writing by "a adult," and I was glad when his review ended.
