Why she need a lawyer..???

The stories in general are fine, a bit sofisticated but good.

I have a question to people from USA.
For me was a big surprise when the girls with an inseminated baby, fight against the gay cuople and inmediatly ask for a judicial order..!!!

I think, if they were "best friend", an she ask him to be the father, is so strange that she finish the relationship in this way.

I know the friend had a stupid actitud abotu this, but they need only a good chat to clean the situation.

Here the judicial order is the last, last option when the normal way are ended, and there is a really hard relationship with fisical aggression or danger for the baby.

My question is : Is this normal en USA...??? or is a mistake to the writer...??

I feel that she overreacted the situation.

I found that abrupt. . . I was surprised, too. And I'm American. I could see being upset, but I didn't understand why she would get a restraining order. No one was threatening to take the child or anything.

OK, thanks...!!!

I feel the same.

Pam and Diane did let Gil back into Max's life in the end, but you're both right, it was surprising, all with the restraining order and all. I mean, dude, talk it out, be friends, yo

reply

I dont think it was a mistake of the writer. I think it was intentionally written that way so that we would be convinced that Max might in fact have been gil's son. They oveerreacted out of fear is what we are supposed to think.
I noticed another thread about Max. I thought it was pretty clear that Max was not Gil's son, but some interpreted differently? From what I interpreted they gave Gil their paperwork concerning his sperm, and it said that they only took some out the week previous, adn that the women deided not to use Gil's sperm becasue he wasn't someone they thought could commit to one partner becasue he was cheating on Charlie, and they did nt want their baby's father to be bringing around different boyfriends all the time. Did anyone interpret differently?

I think that's the reason, but the restraining order seemed to be some serious overkill. It was like she was saying, "I'm sorry, I feel really guilty, and if you come close to me again I'll have you arrested"!?!?!

I remember while watching it I quipped to my friend that it reinforced negative stereotypes of lesbians.

The restraining order was another example of how overprotective they were about Max. Remember, no icing on the cake because of the sugar, no birthday song because it will make him cry, etc. Their parenting style was over-the-top and I think this proves it.

reply

Well I was surprised by that too!

And, the parenting styles and what else you were saying is valid too but I just thought of another thought.

Could the relationship between Pam and her partner by any chance be a foil to Gil and Charley's? Think about it--who wanted the restraining order more...Pam or her partner? I'd defintely say her partner. What I'm thinking is, that the writers evaluated so many different types of relationships. Gil and Charley--the happy, content gay couple. Maime and Javier--a relationship based on sex life. Jude and Marty-a young and old couple, and going into a relationship and getting something else much more out of it. Pam and partner--one partner is very controlling, and the other (Pam) is willing to give up control.
Since there are so many types of relationships in real life, why not try to touch on as many as possible? Including one whrere one of the partner's is overly controlling?

~But that's just me~

Lesbians kids are like that. They don't trust men at all. Friend or not and unlike most straight mothers, they have the balls. I know 6 Les couples with kids and they are all like this, they want nothing to do with men in their intimate likes. Friends are fine but they don't want any man in there personal business.

reply

Oh..!!, this is not so "normal", and specially is not good for the kids, because she put her problem is her childrens....

typical lesbians! - just kidding.
I think they were really upset that the guys were so sneaky about finding out who the father of the child was.

she still needed the order restraint because Gil still had a bond with Max and he might still want to come around. He was already in process to sue them for parental rights. There not thrilled with Gil and already told the stay the F away but he did pursue after that with his own lawyers. They needed to himto back off for a few months until they could think it over. bye Felicia ....Friday
