Oogiegloves = new record setter for lowest debut ever for a wide release

"Oogiegloves in the BIG Balloon Adventure" (2012) - despite being out to 2,160 venues garnered a venue average of $47 and earned just $448,131 over the three-day portion of the weekend. Its Friday-through-Sunday per location average of $207 is the new record setter for lowest ever for a wide release.

Delgo (2008) is officially no longer the record holder. Hard to believe but there it is.

Yeah but who would have ever thought a movie called "The Oogiloves in the Big Balloon Adventure" would have any kind of staying power or appeal? It was a kid movie which prompted kids to actually jump and dance and scream during parts of the movie. That's all well and good but it's got zero appeal to anybody over the age of five.

Compare that to Delgo which wasn't put out by a big studio and was a "labor of love" by the creator who wanted to tell his story. It took four years to make, $40 million dollars in investor money, had the biggest stars they could afford and they hoped to make something to rival Pixar and Dreamworks.

What they got was a critically panned piece of crap that looked like a cheap Saturday morning cartoon with the same kind of writing.

Also The Oogieloves movie made twice as much as Delgo and had a fraction of it's budget. So the winner and still champion is Delgo.
