and the award goes to

DELGO!

511,900 gross (1.2%)

Even worse then... Adventures in Pluto Nash

4,400,000 gross (4.4%)

reply

furthermore,

$511,920 opening in 2,160 theaters - the lowest total for a wide release EVER.

I don't even remember this hitting my market (Louisville, KY) I certainly never saw a trailer on TV for it. Could it be it just had the worst marketing campaign ever made?

reply

I live in Louisville, KY too!

and I never saw anything about this film. It's odd since it has a well known cast

reply

haha it was at my theater for a total of one week. I'm guessing no one saw it here either.

reply

buddy i never even heard of it. gonna go get a rental (which i doubt they have in store). talk about some great marketing.

Battle for Terra LITERALLY sold 0 tickets last week where I work. During the opening week. It's a pretty busy theater.

This one sold some but not much.

Thumbsucker - 8/10
F* *k (documentary)- 10/10

I actually found an even BIGGER box office bomb!

A TROLL IN CENTRAL PARK
BUDGET: $34,000,000

At least it has something it will be remembered for.

reply

It looked too generic.

reply

FYI: Battle for Terra did better. It's at $1.6 million so far. Unknown production budget, though.

reply

Someone must have committed suicide after seeing those earnings.

"Well Osh Kosh B'gosh, itsh the paper boy! So tell me, ish that a full sack you got there?"

reply

Heh, I was just looking at a website that figured, based on those statistics, there were, on average, 2 people per cinema. That is an amazing flop.

reply

I wouldn't be surprised. I would either close my eyes, walk out of the room, or change the channel when a commerical for this came on. (<<< IN CT)

Why do you guys fight like this???
Fight Like this!!!

reply

The producers are probably going the Uwe Boll route and claim the losses as a tax write off.

reply

(from Major Leage II) I went to go see this but it was only in the theater for about two hours. I did hear it was in focus, though.
:}

reply

I do remember it being in theaters by me for like 2 days and no one saw it so they just took it out and pretended like it was never even there.

dudecrazy108 approved!

Is anybody surprised? This movie's got horrible animation, and no style at all. It's like watching a really bad kid's final fantasy movie. did I mention the animation was terrible ?

reply

Just as a comparison, Idiocracy, received literally no advertising, was released in only 130 theaters, and still grossed $444,093!

Even though, it went on to earn $9 million in the first month of release on DVD.

Wow. I have to say... I never heard of this before. What happened? They forgot to budget for an advertising campaign? Looks like someone on their production staff should be sued penniless.

reply

No amount of advertising could have saved this thing. It looked horrible, bad story, cliches all around, characters were ugly. If it had an advertising campaign, it would have been a bomb with an advertising campaign.

reply

Here in Toronto there was a theatre that had MULTIPLE prints of this thing. The next week, they were all gone. I thought that was hilarious.
