This movie blew. I tried to like it, I really did. It's a romantic comedy, and by nature it's inevitably going to be two things. Cliche and predictable. It has all the usual tropes, girl and boy don't like each other at first, but eventually do. Big frigging surprise. What bothered me about this movie though was how contrived the romance was. They just happened to bump into each other over and over and over again. It goes beyond the suspension of disbelief when they just randomly run into each other at the airport (unless the subtle message was that the american guy was a stalker).

Then there was the demonization of the british guy at the end. Where the hell did that come from? He presents himself as a perfectly decent guy for the vast majority of the film, and the turning point is the revelation that he got the american dude's sister pregnant? Whaaa? All of a sudden after that his face has a sinister look to it, and it's so cheesy and phony that it made me want to vomit.

Then there's the acting. Oh hell no. Ashiwariya rai is beautiful and has beautiful eyes, but having beautiful eyes has squat to do with good acting. She can not act, she never could. There's a reason why Bollywood is never taken seriously, like Russel Peters said, it's about looks over talent. There's no substance, and as a result, she's perfect for those brainless song and dance flicks, but she'll never be taken seriously outside of that. To her credit though, everyone else in this movie was fairly bad at acting too, or b-movie quality at best. There's a good reason why I can't remember any of the character's names. None of them are memorable or even worthy of caring about. The only good actor was the speedo guy, but I'll get back to him.

For a romantic comedy, there's very few laughs. I didn't even chuckle throughout most of this, most of the scenes were just stupid or soporific at worst. Their attempts at humor just come off as inane. The only funny parts were when the guy from Lost did that Bollywood dance thing, but that's only funny because doing a Bollywood dance means you're dancing like an idiot, and that's funny. The speedo guy was also quite funny, but was under utilized. In fact they should have deviated from the cliche tropes this film has, and made him the eventual love interest that wins Ashi over at the end. Why not? Too edgy? Needs to be more predictable? Well you got it.

Worst of all, the plot in general is quite dull. I had a hard time following the dialogue because of that. No wonder I can't remember anyone's name. Terrible movie, avoid at all costs.

If everyone agreed on everything, the world would be a very dull place.

I love this movie, and have seen it at least 5 times.

Wickham is a bad guy because this is based loosely on 'pride and prejudice' where wickhsm turns out to be... A bad guy!
It's an important part of the plot and one f the big misunderstandings between 'darcy' and lalita/ Lizzie.
We are supposed to be fooled by wickhsm, as s lalita.
