More power to Mark Ruffalo. Laura Dern's character is not only whiney and bitchey, she is fugly. Naomi Watts is hot. Both guys should be jumping her and leaving Dern crying in the bathroom.

shareI preferred Laura Dern to Naomi Watts. I guess if all you're interested in is having a 'hot' place to stick yourself into, Watts is the way to go. Her character, though, is cold, removed, and thus not exactly a dream date. Even if Dern is less attractive, she has the heart, conviction, and flesh-and-blood realism that are essential in any real relationship.

And maybe people will disagree, because maybe they identify with Terry, but Terry was terrible. How can you forget to change your kid's sheets? She doesn't have a job and yet her house looks like a war zone. She never has desert, and she feeds her husband children's cereal for breakfast. And what's up with those tantrums she keeps throwing? She has to wake her kids up every single morning, oh buuhu! Some women have to do all that and go to work on top of everything.
I'm all for girl power, especially since I'm a girl, and I'm not saying she should turn into Donna Reed, but she really is terrible! What is Jack suppose to love her for? She can't even compensate with looks.

shareUsually any movie that involves 2 women, I'm adamant about who is attractive and who is not, but seriously, I think Dern and Watts are BOTH very attractive. Not only looks-wise, but talent-wise. ...Personality-wise, I think Dern as a slight edge, just from what I've seen in interviews.
sharei don't mean to be mean but i could easily understand his choosing edith over terry when it comes to looks alone. i just haven't ever found laura dern all that attractive although i like her as an actress. naomi watts has a sexy quality about her even with no make-up and bland clothing.
also, laura dern's character scared me a little bit. the way she would get angry was intimidating.
