I thought I remember them giving Mario Sunshine a positive review. Am I wrong?
That's one of the most fun games I own. I don't see how Adam can say it was a let down because the jet pack talked. That was like 1% of the entire game.
And they hate Yoshi? In ANY game??? What's wrong with them???
No, they Mario Sunshine a five out of five. They mentioned in that episode that there were some characters from the Mario games they didn't like. They mentioned Birdo, Walugi and some others, but they never said they didn't like Yoshi.

And they've said many times how Mario Sunshine was a disappointment. So how can they say that if they gave it 5 out of 5?
Whoops, I just realized I read your post wrong. I was thinking Mario Galaxy, but you were talking about Mario Sunshine.

Why on Earth would they say negative things about SMS, that they gave a 5/5 during the Extended Play days?
