So I guess I'm the only person who remembers the TechTV era?

I mean, how can so many people forget the TechTV era of the show from 2003-2004? It was the best! Everything from the introduction of Morgan, to Adam stapling himself, to the Aquaman review, to Adam wearing a tutu, I could on and on.

I was in High School when X-Play premiered in 2003, and I would catch the initial showing, loved every moment of it, and then catch the late night showing. I looked forward to doing this forever. But then, of course, Comcast and G4 had to step in. Thanks a lot, Comcast and G4, for lessening my interest little by little.

To paraphrase a Beatles song: "Why it had to go, I don't know. Something wrong happened, now I long for yesterday."

I remember the Tech TV days. I would come home from school everyday and watch it. Now I don't even watch G4 anymore, but on occasion I'll flip on X-play and it makes me miss the old days.

Funny thing is, unlike most people, I still remember which game they reviewed where Adam stapled himself. It was SX Superstar (a motorcross game) and it got a 2/5. After that, they then showed clips from a good motorcross game in Excitebike.

To be fair, the TechTV era had its faults as well. I remember one episode where they gave Mobile Light Force 2 a 1/5, and the only reason they did that was due to its mismatched boxart.

When it was on TechTV the show was perfect. The writing was so clever and fresh and the show was fun to watch. Once they got rid of all the fun the show became very dull.

I taped quite a bit of episodes in early 2004 before the merger happened. I still cherish those tapes. Here are some of my favorite moments from the TechTV era:

1. The episode that began comparing a day in the life of both Morgan and Adam where Morgan gets breakfast in bed on a tray that also had a GBA SP while Adam lived in a crappy apartment and misses his bus while Morgan gets a limo to pick her up.

2. Adam's original review of Aquaman: Battle of Atlantis where he hangs out with his new friend Slippy the Fish. At the end of the review you see Adam eating a fish sandwich with Slippy no where to be seen...

3. 80's Nostalga Episode! Adam had a huge golden Dee Snider wig and Morgan wore leg warmers. They reviewed Atari classics and Intellvision compilations for the PS2 and Xbox. There was also various vintage retro commercials for Atari and Intellivision before commercial breaks one featured the late Phil Hartman playing Ice Hockey for the Atari 2600. Later AOTS completely ripped off this idea and even made Olivia look exactly like Morgan did in this retro episode.

4. When Adam and Morgan covered the Tokyo Game Show '04 where they previewed among other games Onimusha 3 revealing that French actor Jean Reno would appear in it. Adam also visited a video game store in Japan that appeared to have thousands of games. He made the comment that the writing on a Japanese Lord of the Rings game looks much cooler than the English font we are used to.

5. Adam talks to various WWE wrestlers at a WWE event after they reviewed some Smackdown title. I remember he asked the wrestler Kane which type of Xbox controller he uses and he says he hated the original one and prefers the S type. That seems like it was so long ago when that thing came out.

Well that about does it for my X-Play TechTV memories. I shall always think of the show when it was in that form and not for what it eventually became.
