Canon?

Is this series disqualified as canon now by Disney/2008 animated series?

reply

I sadly believe so, which is a shame because this show is miles more watchable and interesting than the 2008 CGI woodblock design show.

Not to mention it sets up the motivation of Anakin far better than any of the films and is the primary development for General Greivous.

It's not canon but it should be. As far as I'm concerned it is.

I still see the 2D series as canon, hell I see Chapters 1-21 as the first month in the war. The only visual thing that has to be worked around is Anakin's scar, a little montage at the start of Chapter 22 shows him without it as his hair's growing out, placing that little bit in the months leading to the 3D series... which is said to start at least six months after Attack of the Clones. Anakin has his scar from start to end of the 3D series, we only first see it on him when he arrives on Naboo to spend the night with Padme in 2D's Chapter 22, said by the producers to symbolize the conception of their twins. The only thing that has to be taken in a different context with the 3D series is that interlude scene between Anakin and Padme, originally intended to show her character's reaction to his scar, I feel must now be taken as her noticing a somber depression in him after nearly three years of war as this moment picks up from where the 3D story leaves off.

The majority of Chapter 22 through the 2D story's end then does a pretty awesome job of leading right up to the opening scene for Revenge of the Sith and it's pretty interesting going into this with a new perspective of where the characters have been in the 3D counterpart. Anakin has gone through roughly a couple years of training and "losing" his own apprentice, Palpatine has been gradually getting bits and bits more power right under the Jedis' noses, Yoda has encountered the spirit of an old Jedi friend and is on the path of learning immortality through the Force. At the same time Chapters 1-21 give an appreciation for its younger counterpart such as introducing new foes like Ventress and Grievous, Anakin's Knighthood to Jedi, hell even 3PO's gold transition.

They don't 100% perfectly match each other, but I feel they do more to compliment than harm.

I feel like it's up to the fan who watches the show. They can consider this canon or the other shows canon. Either way both lead to the same story

According to Wookiepedia, it still is. :D
