cross between braveheart + gladiator....

Hey
Did anyone notice how much this movie is like Braveheart & Gladiator. The gladiator thing is obvious since Spartacus was a gladiator.
Braveheart things were the blue face paint, saying freedom before they charged, stealing a 'higher' persons girl (ie. the princess in braveheart, the owner of the gladiators girl). But maybe its just my crazyness.
Anyways... I loved this movie. I bought it on dvd before even watching it based on what i read in magazines and online. I didn't get to see it on tv since i live in Canada. It was great. I love movies about that time period. Such as Gladiator, Helen of Troy (another made for tv movie, which was amazing) and Troy (although it was so un-accurate).
Thats all i've got to say. So go see Spartacus if you haven't and if you have watch it again.

Hi Holly,

The novel and original theatrical movie version of SPARTACUS predate (by several decades), and obviously heavily influence GLADIATOR and BRAVE HEART. As I watched GLADIATOR I was disappointed that it had not been produced and presented as a direct remake of SPARTACUS. However, this failure on the part of GLADIATOR's producers opened the door for Mr. Visnjic's realistic and subtly-performed SPARTACUS.
