Goran 'is' Spartacus

This was a great mini series. All of the acting was superior and no one could have done Spartacus better than Goran Visnjic who in my opinion is one of our finest actors. He gave a truly compelling and convincing performance. This is the most accurate version of Spartacus according to the history channel's "The Real Spartacus." I hope it comes out on DVD. I first saw Goran in The Deep End and then in Parctical Magic and Welcome to Sarajevo and he has always given a top notch performance. I saw the Ebert and Roeper review of Close Your Eyes recently and they gave it a "two thumbs up" with a comment something like "not only is Goran Visnjic a handsome leading man but he is a good actor." The Spartacus mini series has aired twice so far and I have seen it both times. I hope they air it again.

I agree. Goran was amazing as Spartacus. He IS Spartacus, as you said. I, too, hope they will release it on DVD, soon.

I watched both The History Channel's documentary, and the mini-series, SPARTACUS, and have to agree on both counts: the mini-series is closer to actual events, and Mr. Visnjic's subtly-layered performance beats Kirk Douglas' histrionics. (Although I must add one caveat: Mr. Douglas' performance was, at the time of the original theatrical movie release, in tune with what was considered to be a hero's demeanor; luckily times have changed and a more natural acting style is in vogue today).
