Could This Be Considered Anime?

I would say that the design for the characters, especially Keiva, is inspired by anime. But other characters are in a more classic comic style. They don't act like anime characters, like making their heads big when they are angry & such & it is an American cartoon. But I am told by some people that it is anime.
I think it is sort of on the edge of being anime, like the new Ninja Turtles.

If you take "anime" as the literal translation then yes, it's anime. If, however, you make a distinction between the styles of animation around the world and, heaven forbid, regard anime as a different art form then no, it's not anime.

I have to disagree with you gezquester, when I think of "American Anime" I think of Teen Titans, which has the big heads, goofy eyes, etc, as well as originating from America, of course.

There is no way that Megas is "anime", american or otherwise . While its basic theme (Giant Robots) is a major theme in Japanese anime series, it is by no means exclusive to anime.
I get the feeling that people try to call any American cartoon worth watching anime, wether or not it actually is. I could understand people calling "The Avatar" anime, as it uses some of the visuals often employed in Japanese anime. Even with that, I cannot really call it a true anime.
