Really sad but great movie

This movie was so sad, it made me cry at the end, some moments made me cringe
Like when they keep missing eachother or letting eachother go
But i guess it has to be part of the movie or there would be no movie
Very sad but great acting, made it so believable
I want to know why he walked off at the end
Why they didnt just run off at the train station
Some parts i really dont get
Thanks for reading my post :)

cringe was all I could do, I enjoy watching foreign films (I'm not Indian) for different locations, interesting cinematography, other cultures but my wife and I sat there asking ourselves "if this film was American, British or any other English speaking country, would we have switched off before the end?"
The answer was yes, the film was not good.

Spoilers below:

I don't want to go on too much but;
1. The cliche crap during the film was crigneworthy, eg where she puts her hand to the glass and he does the same
2. how did a poor orphan with no education other than working in a carpet factory (where he made NEW rugs) know anything about 100 year old Persian rugs or gain any business acumen to become such a carpet success?
3. How did getting a phone suddenly result in them getting business calls when they had no customers before?
4. he gave her half a rupee to get the bus to Calcutta but the fare was 1 rupee, seeing how hard it was to earn fractions of a rupee in the factory, where did she get the other money from?

Flaws/crap;
1. if you were hoping to meet someone at the temple and had been going every month for 15+ years, wouldn't you have realised that the best place to wait might be at the ferry port/jetty instead of wandering around the crowds idiotically?
2. The end meeting was just crap
