Pong the Movie Announced...

I don't believe but it has happened:

Atari CEO, Bruno Bonnell, confirmed today that the company will be working on a movie adaptation of PONG due for a late 2006 theater release. Way I Play writes: "Few details have been released about the plot of the movie, but director Paul W.S. Anderson let a few hints slip out. 'There will be awesome hand to hand combat, I can tell you that much,' blurted Anderson. 'If you’ve played PONG, it will be like discovering it for the first time all over again. If you’ve never played PONG, it will be like discovering it twice. Twice much,' continued the Mortal Kombat director.

The screen play will be written by Steven E. de Souza, know for other video game movies such as Street Fighter and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. Souza told Variety that “PONG is the classic story that all other video games are based on. PONG: The Official Movie of the Game will take you past the pixels.”

Remember, there is no "I" in "Team America".

I can't wait. I hope my favorite character 'left paddle' is the focus of this movie.

LmAo Tthor. . .but i'm putting my money on 'floating paddle blue' or i'll just stick with the usual same color teamed white with a square dot passing by. . .

reply

I always preferred the right paddle. It always just seemed so much more tortured.

reply

Yep, right paddle never had it easy... Left is popular and your eyes tend to start by the left side of the screen, so Right paddle is just a lone object...

I think this is really going to be a sad movie...

reply

No, no, no. You all have it wrong. The main character is going to be the ball. Don't you get it? The ball is the only character that creates conflict, that has any dynamics. Pong was, is and always will be about the ball.

Get it right: it's not IMDB, it's IMDb. The 'b' is not capitalized.

reply

Exactly without the ball the movie will go from having 0.00000000000000002% plot to having no plot at all.

They did a study. 60% of the time... it works all the time.

bastards stole my idea!
its a coming of age story about "lefty", they shy awkward paddle from the wrong side of the tracks, who falls in love with "righty", a sweet paddle with all of life's luxuries. "ball", played by jon leguizamo, begins teasing them that they can't move horizontaly and hilarity ensues. a classic love story.

they also stole my idea of a donkey kong movie! Frickin' Peter Jackson and Jack Black!
