Shaun and Karla officially gone??

Anyone know what happened to both Shaun and Karla and why they're not on the show anymore? I just saw a preview clip of a new episode and they're replaced with new cast members Sydney and Yasmeen. It kind of stinks that Shaun and Karla are gone now.

Shaun is in the Broadway musical 'In The Heights' and Karla has been in a couple movies and is currently on 'Guiding Light'.
