What car was Peter (Bettany) driving?
It looked like an old Porsche or maybe even a VW. Anyone know?

shareAfter rewinding, I'm sure it's a Porsche, but unsure of the model or year. I'm pretty sure it's late 30's or early 40's, but that's it.
Thanks!
I believe it's a mid-'50s Porsche Spider. It can't be '30s or early '40s, as Porsche didn't make cars in the '30s or early '40s.
It may be a reproduction: one or both of the car you actually see in the movie, and the fictional car that the character is driving.
uh yeah, porsche has been making racing cars since 1938.
sharePorsche made a grand total of three cars before 1948. Not three models: three cars. I don't think this was supposed to be one of them.
You may be aware that some things happened in Europe between 1939 and 1945.

It's actually based on a Porshe, but it was manufactured just for the film. There were actually two made.

oh, coz the trivia made it sound as though it was an actual car, coz it said that that version was very rare and valuable...ah well! I know nothing about cars!!

it is a porsche 356 speedster. the model in the film was built sometime between 1948 and 1952. the split windshield is one way to figure the year of the vehicle. hope that helps.
shareI'm pretty sure that it was a replica.
