Anyone else think that Dieter should have played Peter? :)

Hi, just saw this movie yesterday and enjoyed it for what it was, a sweet, romantic movie. But I just couldn't stop thinking that the film would have been better, if the actor playing Peter's friend, Dieter, had played Peters role, and vice versa. He had a sort of Ewan-McGregorish vibe to him, and I just think he would be much more belieavable as part of a couple with Dunst.

Anyone else thought so?

Nah, I don't see Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Peter Colt. He was fine as the friend, but tremendously underused.
Bettany was good - better than expected in fact - however Ewan McGregor, whom you mentioned, would have been awesome as the male lead. I can totally picture him as Peter.
By the way, Nikolaj has nothing in common, in looks or mannerism, to Ewan.

Mmmmmm ... I loved the cast as it was. Personally, although I have enjoyed Ewan in much, I think he might be too short for a role such as Peter. Paul Bettany was a revelation. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to have been well used since, either, referencing the previous commenter's remarks about Dieter.

Dieter is a drop-dead doll, though. It was nice to see someone so gorgeous in a supporting role which he carried off very humbly, but I for one would have leaped to have seen him helm something else, maybe especially a good detective thriller. But, no, I thought Bettany and Dunst were perfect for their roles. Never really knew about this movie until this year.

Totally agreed, NCW was/is drop dead gorgeous.
I am watching this movie because of him and he was so good looking in the movie.
I skimmed the movie a bit many years ago but never watched it seriously, not a fan of K. Dunst.
