Underrated - Undertow (2004) Discussion

I totally agree. This film was excellent. The acting was superb. The boys were amazing. I have the DVD and I have watched it several times. Each time I see things I didn't see before. It was passed up and soooo underrated except for people like Roger Ebert who named it one of the 10 Best Film of last year. I think it will grow and become one of those films that is appreciated on DVD. Let's hope so.

I actually think this is DGG's best film yet. George Washington was interesting but overrated, and All the Real Girls was for the most part insufferable except for Zooey Deschanel. I can't wait for Confederacy of Dunces.

I didn't like the movie very much, charachter development was really poor. The black family was random as hell, was that guy retarded or something. I don't understand how someone could call this movie underrated it kinda sucked.

i felt like you! when i hunted around london for 8 months to buy Davids first movie george washington! (of which i still cant re-watch) but there is something about Undertow. of all the movies moments i like the black family the best. i spose becasue it is pointless!The extended scene on the dvd makes it even more poignant- 'the baby dawn come outta my backside'!hilarious and pointless.

I dont know how to explain it! .I know its a cop out and the fake pretentious ass stuff 'oh its subjective and not about plot' and all that crap but All i can do is recommend you go watch All the real girls thats what turned me. I saw it and 4 months later got an epiphany while sleeping at 4 oclock in the morning 'oh I Get it I get it'!!

I just saw it last night and loved it, it reminded me of the works of Mallick and Pakinpa.

Really? I've been wanting to watch this film for a while now but I've been putting it off because I'm unfamiliar with DGG's work and besides Ebert's high praises of the film, I've read some bad reviews on it.

not really, I did not think it was that good, a bit to slow and some pointless dialog

but the actor did do a wonderful job
