Question about Uncle's cigarette.

Soon after the uncle first shows up he is talking to the dad on the porch and pulls out a seriously, seriously long cigarette. It's seriously like a 200mm cig. I mean I smoke 100's and that cig was WAY longer than mine. I'm pretty sure it was even longer than the 120's I have seen. Anyone have any idea about a possible brand or how long that thing was?

I posted this while watching the movie at that very point, upon watching the rest of it you see the Uncle smoke those long @$$ cigs quite a few more times. Any ideas anyone?

Hi guys,
I worked as the Property Master on that film.
The brand of cig was, "Mustang".
The length were indeed 120's if I remember correctly.
Funny story how that came to be...

While scouting an outdoor location during pre-production, I found this discarded pack of smokes on the ground. The art on the box was so basic and old fashioned I knew both my bosses, director David Green and production designer Richard Wright, may appreciate it the way I did and maybe use this odd brand for the film.

I got a smile and a thumbs up from both and when I got back to the office I researched and contacted the company.
Turns out at the time "Mustang" cig's were made in Mexico! After I got the companies PR rep on the phone and told him we want his smokes in our movie, he sent us a huge cardboard case of cartons of all the different kinds of "Mustangs" they make. As mainly only the Uncle smoked 'em, we had a huge surplus of 'Stangs to go around! Kings, 100's, regular, menthols, lights, hard pack, soft pack, and every other combo of the above one can imagine.

During filming the out-of-state Art department workers lived in a rented house on Martin Luther King Blvd, right next to a great bar and wing house.
Anyway, late at night I'd be walking home from a long days work and I would invariably encounter one of that fair cities street characters. The ones who smoked would receive a brand new unopened pack of the Mustang flavor and caliber of choice.
For a few brief weeks one summer, I was known in that neighborhood as, "The cigarette man"

Glad you guys know this movie. The makers were some of the best human beings I ever had the privilege to work and party with. It's been years and I still remember so many of them vividly.

If any of you bastids read this know that Jeff loves and misses you!

It's an interesting story. I know the area well and can envision exactly the type of characters you encountered. (And the BBQ you enjoyed.) Thanks for sharing.
