Both escapes occurred in Colorado under minimum security. The first escape was from a library (under the guise of studying for his defense). He gained the guard's confidence. The guard went for a smoke, and Ted slipped away. After hiding in the woods for a few days, he was captured when he came back into town and tried to steal a car. Someone asked him why he escaped, and he said, "it was just too nice a day to stay inside."

The second time was the big one. He was on a plane before they even realized he was gone! If I remember correctly, he went to Michigan first, and then down to Florida -- and we all know how that turned out.

Check this stuff out...

Movie: Ted Bundy (with Michael Riley Burke as Ted). After watching it, check it out again later with the director's commentary. The movie is pretty good, but Mr. Burke is awesome.

Best Books: "The Only Living Witness" is very good (except for all the typos). My favorite book about Ted is "The Stranger Beside Me" by Anne Rule. The escapes are described in great detail in these books.

"Crazy? Oh... I'm much more than crazy, bright boy. Much more..."

I think it was Chicago first after his successful escape.

Personally, I did not like the movie Ted Bundy. The actor who played him was excellent and he did a good job with what he was given, but the movie is not very accurate. The director appeared to have done hardly any research.

That Ted Bundy movie is very graphic compared to this one lol! Quite a few uncomfy moments in there ay! But yeah the actor was really good i thought, i liked Billy Campbell as Bundy as well though. My question is Bundy had a daughter!?!?!?!?!?! WTF! Since when?

I am reading the latest release of the book this movie is based on. Ann said that A frequent visitor to the florida jail said the prisoners would pool their money, and 1 prisoner would win. bribe went to the guards to get some "alone time" with their visiter.

carol anne boone worked with bundy and married him during his trial, she divorced him before he was executed. she had a daughter by bundy.
