Oh wow I never knew this was out, Chuck and Larry a ripoff?

We didn't get any sort of release in the cinema over here in America, far as I'm aware of, so I was rather surprised when I came across this movie today at the rental store and saw the familiar mug of Paul Hogan, which of course was an instant green-light in the 'should I rent it or not' department, at least for me.

It's astounding, after having seen I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry (which received a wide release over here and plenty of promotion, if you overseas care to know), that this film not only is echoed nearly scene for scene in Chuck and Larry, but also predated it by 3 years!

I mean, what's going on here? Was this flick stolen from, or what? The two seem far too similar for it to be entirely coincidental.

Even if the American production was thrown forward a few years due to delays, it's still, if you get past the far more blunt innuendos and shock-value humor that Hollywood throws in your face, too similar to be chance.

Personally, I enjoyed this one more. I didn't laugh as much, but only because it wasn't inundating you with slapstick humor and the obvious shock-value jokes I am embarrassed to say I couldn't help but laugh at... however, it plays off as more heart-felt and more of a message than Chuck and Larry, which seemed more in it at the expense of gays if it'd afford them a chuckle, albeit still standing as an overall message about tolerance.

I've missed Paul Hogan. Sure, we here in America have been made more aware of other actors since the late 90's such as Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, Sam Worthington, you know, the obvious ones, but 'ol Dundee, much of a stereo-type as he may be of the Australian bushman, will always have a place in my heart!

Yeah I just found this... Seems like Sandler ripped off the idea.

What doesn't Sandler rip off? He even gave it the same bloody title.
