I really liked this movie.....

After seeing Across the Universe and looking up prior films featuring the actors and actresses, I was most intrigued by those with Joe Anderson in them, particularily because of how versatile his acting ability was. Most notably, Silence Becomes You was one I had been wanting to see. I have no recollection of it being in theaters, though even if it was, I can understand why it didn't do so well. At the same time, however it was refreshing to see Anderson playing a different role, even though it had slight remnants of Max's unpredictable, yet genuine character.

Diving more into the film itself, I really found it to be quite heartbreaking. To see two people who are connected in such a powerful way yet so isolated that you see them deteriorating added depth to this film. The colors used were gorgeous and the symbolism, albeit rather over-the-top, was perfect in showing how messed up these girls really were. And I was definitely moved by those scenes with them on the couch, staring lifelessly in space, as that seemed like it was their reality. Its hard to sum up other reasons why I like this film, only that I was moved...which is what movies should do for us, whether we understand it or not.

Yes, this is definitely a good movie. I rented it first 3 years ago, because I've always loved Alicia, and I had now idea who Joe Anderson was. Seems most of these new trolls hating on this movie just rented it to see more of that cute guy of Across the Universe and Becoming Jane fame. It's avant-garde! they should think more about it, practically everything in the film is metaphoric! I'm glad you kept an open mind, kayg2b

Be nice to me babe, or you'll regret it. You are my hostage, and don't you forget it.

Okay, first of all, after sifting through a lot of the comments on this board I was starting to think I was the only one who actually liked this film. I actually just got the dvd and I'm watching it right now.

and, flojo03, Forbidden Zone... Nice! ;)

Same here, I enjoyed this film. The fairy tale wardrobe of the sisters alone had my attention (loved the mixing of colors with dresses and tights). In the end they got what they wanted no matter what.

One has to have an artistic and open mind to appreciate this film all around. I enjoy any film that make me use my brain, instead of dumbed-down movies that are made for the average American.

I have enjoyed this movie also.
Maybe story is not for every people that like popcorn movies but i have enjoy story also. but the most beautiful part of the movie i like is screen playing, cinematography and directing ,of course.

Movie is like that actresses have been taken picture at every scene. at some scene, i have forgotten the movie and take picture of scene in my mind.
Even, i have pushed the button of my remote control to take pictures on TV and i have gotten many pictures. they are like billboard adv. of a textile company :)

Wow, I can't believe there are 5 people that actually liked this piece of excrement. Judging by the rating, you are the only 5.

This was the most boring movie I ever had the misfortune of sitting through. While watching I could only wonder how people could have made this movie, sat in a screening room, watched it, and still come to the decision to release it.

The only remotely good things about it were the sets and the costuming. The rest was garbage; a boring story told in a pretentious and boring way. It was hard to tell if it was more boring than pretentious, but I go for pretentious first, followed closely by boring.

One of the bits of trivia given for this movie was that Juliette Lewis and Thora Birch were originally cast for the lead female roles, but both pulled out due to "scheduling conflicts" Boy, were they lucky! Or smart!

And you're the reason why producers think people only want to see explosions.

I actually loved this film. I thought it was artsy, thought provoking, and over all, DIFFERENT. I like films that are different from the mainstream. Sorry that it didn't give you cards and actually made you think, because you know it's so horrible if you do.

Marek: So how does it feel being passed over for 600-year-old ruins?

Sorry, Jules, but you're wrong. I'm not the poster to which you were responding, but I'll reply anyway because they were right.

I've watched hundreds (thousands?) of movies of just about every sort. I love intelligent movies, I love quirky movies, I love beautiful movies, I love (some) indie movies. The problem with this movie isn't the lack of explosions or other standard Hollywood fare. The problem is it simply is not a good movie. As others have mentioned, it's pretentious and boring. The reason it's boring is that it never gets around to explaining anything, so there's no real progress or sense of development, other than a deepening sense of doom and misery as it becomes apparent that there's nothing awaiting either the cast or the audience except more unhappiness and unexplained confusion. There is a lot of potential eye candy here, but none of it makes the movie worth watching.

* The lead actors are all pretty people, but that's hardly a distinction for a movie.

* The sets are colorful, but the significance of the imagery isn't explained well, so it's more like an abstract collage than a painting.

* The present emotions register strongly on the actors, but their lives make no sense, so it's impossible to connect with them as people. Luke, at least, seems more or less normal, but the movie ultimately throws him away, and with him our only link to comprehensibility here.

* Sienna Guillory's lovely boobs... well, I'll give the movie a star (or a wry two?) for that, but again, that's hardly a reason to sit through a whole movie.

What are we left with? What did we learn here? What was the story even about? Why care about two sisters who are shown to be somehow different from us, yet the difference is never explained? What insight has been revealed? What truths about humanity have been explored?

This movie is a waste of time and effort. I'm happy for you that you enjoyed it, but why/how did that happen?

I will say that the music was well done, so one more star for that. I guess we're at 3 stars in all... out of 10. Ugh. I hope the talented people who spent so much time and energy on this have gone on to make more worthwhile films, and I hope that the people responsible for this one being such a confusing, pointless mess have stepped back and figured out where they went wrong and learned something from that.

I liked this movie too. I like clothes and jewelry. It was filmed in winter and i love winter time. Silence Becomes You is mystical, a little creepy movie. Actors were great too.
This is one of the movies that pulls you in them and you can feel it, feel all of the characters emotions. That is a plus.

I am watching this flick right now for the 1st time-- the part just happened where Luke slept with the redheaded sister (I still can't figure out which sister has which name yet, heh...)

I like the Surrealism and the quoting of poems (or books?)
