Neverwinter Nights V Baldur's Gate

Baldur's Gate, for me...

In terms of single player content, Buldurs gate wins hands down. Ideally NWN ought to be fun online, but since everyone online is either: a twat / sanctimouis / smug / annoying / humorless / pesudo-armchair philosophers / out to rape you, forget about it.

Still, if NWN2 can address the problems in the first one, I would be locked in my room for days on end. But they are the same guys who gave us SW:KOTOR2....

The apparent problem being the online community?

You drooling retard, stick to consoles.

reply

No, NWN had other problems aside from the a-holes online.

reply

I really dont see these major flaws it apparently has.

Good multiplayer, massive community that's still very active and creating new material, what's holding it back so much? (that needs to be fixed for NWN2).

Baldur's Gate.

Baldur's Gate, it not even a fair contest, BG totally cream NWN, which is a shame, NWN's too cartoony, I couldn't take it even mildly seriously, It reminded me of Nox but without the smooth gameplay.

I just don't get why they went 3D, BG and IWD both look gorgeous as does Diablo II but this just looks clunky.
If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Obviously this game has the toolkit which is why it's so popular in the online gaming world but I agree with what someone said earlier, everyone out there seem to be pompous *beep*

I'm an online RPG noob and boy do these people let you know it!

It's funny, really, you're working together in this online and yet everyone seems real hostile to newcomers, you play unreal on ine and everyones friendly as hell, just before they blow your freaking head off!

I completely agree! The thing that made BG2 so special was that you could build a large number of parties, and enjoy all the interactions between the different NPCs, even romance one if you wished it. But in NWN?... A "henchman"? The term alone gave me the creeps.
As for online gaming, I'm allergic to it anyways! :D

i dont think its cause they went 3d neverwinter nights 2 looks really good then just didnt get it right like they did with baldurs gate 2 which is the best RPG ive ever played. Theres no romance in neverwinter nights ok theres the druid but you cant even call that a romance and the story (I) personally think wasnt dark enough the whole bhaal mess was just more intersting and had alot more content let me stress the alot word. I also belive the underdark part of the game was a big winner neverwinter didnt have it share of beholders, illithids and most importantly a Drow city. The drow are awsome i belive this was a big factor with the fans. The siege at the end wasnt even that impressive.

Baldur's Gate wins NWN any day of the week

but now we have NWN2.. and.. i think that it might possibly even top BG, though it's hard for me to admit it. it's just THAT bloody good. it's everything that NWN wasn't

BG2 sucked. I didn't even finish it b/c it had some MAJOR bugs. One area roally screwed up my character and I would've had to play a huge chunk of the game over again (when I say roally screwed, I mean I saved several times in that area and EVERY save was messed up so the plot was unadvanceable). This is one of only 2 games I have ever thought was not enjoyable enough to finish (and I've played a LOT), and it was definitely not worth blowing through 1/4 of an unenjoyable game AGAIN just to beat. NWN was majorly enjoyable. HoTU was much more intense, but the whole concept of NWN was better than BG2.

Monks rule, BTW.

Blasphemer!

SORRY, but i've to say Neverwinter Nights (very) closely beats Baldur's Gate.

I don't talk about the original campaign though.

The toolkit is perfect, and many of the custom modules have better story than Baldur's Gate, and much better graphics than the original NWN. You can even download the custom modules for FREE.

The background graphic of BG series is VERY GOOD, but the avatars are very ugly imo.

It's so obvious... 'Baldur's Gate' is a thousand times better than NWN. Would you compare 'Conan The Barbarian' to 'The Scorpion King'?

OK. How about BG2 V NWN2.

NWN2 wins hands down as a fantastic game for me.

If we talk about the official campaign, the best things NWN2 has were already in BG2. They have tried to imitate the original (characters, the fact that you can own a fortress, playability...), but you don't get as involved, the storyline is simple, childish...

Of course, there are many improvements (technical), but just remember when BG2 was released... it was a long time ago. NWN2, with the same background and story of BG2 would be a perfect game.

Neverwinter nights is Baldur's Gate with absolutely no soul.

Deprived of emotions, or interesting storytelling.

It's not a fair contest, Baldur's Gate is a thousand upon thousand times better.
