Booty Bandit (spoilers)

Man that story was so sad, yet so funny

I think its sad that, that prison turned a small time crook into a murderer, it just goes to show how our prison system really works, they dont want you to get a second chance.

anyways I wish I would have seen a documentary like this at an earlier age, perhaps with out the murder on it, just a documentary about prison in general, after viewing this I think kids should watch this, It might change their life, and make them choose a different lifestyle instead of crime.

reply

I agree, also, does anyone know if Troy Kell has been executed yet?

reply

I don't believe this movie would have the same impact to change the negative direction of a downward spiraling life without the murder footage... it's truly the K.O. of a soon to be thoroughly transformed life of a wanna be criminal.

I find it interesting that so many people blame the prison system for making him into a criminal... when you stab someone 67 times... it's all you baby! What about when the knife was stuck in that guys eye socket and he had to put his foot on the guy to dislodge the knife from his brain just to keep on stabbing him. The prison system didn't do it... it was the hate that already existed in his heart that initially led him to a life of being a criminal who sought an existance based on taking advantage of others. In other words, the game hasn't changed for him... just the circumstances - because he's still out for himself to the detriment of all others in either society or prison society.

I find it interesting that the discussion isn't about the people sitting there and watching the murder on the monitor without taking any actions... it seemed clear that the prison system is completely down with the racism of so many of the <Aryan> inmates... and that they intentionally took their time in taking any action at all... but then, I suppose it is yet another example of how WE fail to properly rehabilitate inmates across the board by not changing the prison system.

But how do you rehabilitate a heart full of hate?

Prison life is clearly a mirrored microcosm of our society as a whole. As long as we continue to make excuses for OUR poor behavior rather than changing it... evil will always continue to reside in us all.

reply

the prison system did help turn the guy into a murderer, just because you have a heart full of hate doesnt mean youre a murderer, i have nothing but hate and i'm not a murderer

i'm just simply saying the guys in there for bad checks or whatever i forget my memory sucks

and they put the guy in there with murderers, i'm pretty postive something bad happen to him to trigger his rage, but would that have happen if he was in a less violent population?

he could but less likely

troy kell did not murder lonnie blackman out of hate. if you understand what goes on in prison, troy simply made his move first. was he a racist hell yeah, but the purpose of the murder was the two had an argument previously and troy felt he had to kill him or be killed himself. I also dont understand why it to so long for security to stop it. I think prison is a terrible invirnment and it hardens people more often then changes them for the good. Well theres my two cents on everything

I don't know what documentary some of you guys were watching. He was not a small time crook, and was not in for writing bad checks or something.

He was already sentenced to LIFE IN PRISON for MURDER yes murder, before he was ever convicted of the prison murder.

Him and 2 of his childhood friends were found guilty of murdering some man out in the nevada desert, supposedly because this man was making advances on the one female friend who was like 15 about doing nude photos.

Prison did not ruin his life HE did. Also the sad part is he could have only gotten 15 years if he had pled guilty to the first murder. They tried to plea bargain that to him, but he decided to take it to trial, lost and was sentanced to life without parole.

Actually now that I think about it, the guy who helped Troy kill that guy in prison by holding him down while Troy stabbed him was the one in for writing bad checks, not Troy.

If anyones life was ruined in that documentary it was his life not Troys, but prison didn't ruin it, his choices did.

reply

i dont know what you were reading but i dont think anyone said troy was in for writing bad checks, we were talking about the guy that helped him, so i dont know what youre talking about lol

and yeah it was his choice to write the bad check, but he was placed with murderers and rapist etc...

I never been to prison and this is just my opinion but it seems like he would be a target to other inmates just because hes in for something that isnt violent in anyway, what i'm trying to say is they probably consider him a "bitch"

but I have watched plenty of prison documentaries and they always say everyday is a struggle to live, so thats telling me that an inmate who was placed there for writing bad checks, now has to become a potential murderer just to save his own life

Who cares if it was for bad check, fraudulent documents, etc, he messed up (probobly not his first time) and now he's doing his time. To go and kill someone so brutally makes him a lost cause. As you see in the documetary there was no booty bandit after him.

reply

I never said the booty bandit was after him, I was just saying the booty bandit nickname was funny yet sad

obviously it wasnt his first time i'm not trying to make him the victim, clearly you haven't been reading the entire thread

i'm just simply saying he went in a small time convict and became a murderer and a racist, in the documentary you can see he changed his life around later on, confirming that prison played a roll in his racism

you can argue that prison had no roll in it but the truth is neither one of us can know for sure what triggered his racial hatered and murderious ways

it's just my opinion that prison life made him worse than what he was before he came in

I just saw this movie last night and it is just.. I don't know, sick and sad that they could kill that guy like that. And I am not understanding why the prison guards couldn't do something sooner to stop the madness. Geez!

I couldn't even watch the stabbing part it shook me how violent that Troy guy was. Seeing all the blood on his hands was more than enough for me I may be a girl, but I think most people would be affected by that scene the same way.

I think he was a bad seed anyway, but being in prison from the age of eighteen just helped fortify his deviant ways.

The other guy was just plain stupid for turning a 0-5 prison sentence for forgery into a life without parole deal. Even though the Lonnie Blackmon was indeed a criminal, he did not deserve to get butchered like that. Like his brother said, he wasn't an angel by any stretch, but he was somebody's son and brother.

It was just disturbing as hell, I have been thinking about it off and on all day. I could not imagine getting locked up and I think something like this should be required viewing for all those kids in juvi.

I was also wondering if that sicko has been executed yet. I saw on the epilogue to the movie that he tried to commit suicide by taking a heroin overdose. My question is, if he is on Death Row, how in the hell did he get a hold of heroin?

reply

In prison you can get whatever kind of drugs you want if you have enough money and connections.

From that statement you made it sounds as if you are against the death penelty? Is that correct? Not to taunt you or anything, but it struck me to see someone say that.

I do agree with you that Troy was a bad seed. I would pair Troy along with David Ludwig. Obviously normal and intelligent men who make a bad situation worse by involving a weapon; or in their case a gun. In both their cases they commited the original acts based on situations with women. I'm assuming these bad seeds have something not working correctly when it comes to decision making and their affection for women.

I was extremely surprised how intelligent Troy spoke and articulate he was in contrast to the brutal killing caught on tape. I found this documentry to be excellent and somewhat chilling.

I'd love to see some "prison justice" for Troy Kell.

I say we throw him into the prison yard with all the black inmates. They would rip him to shreds in seconds. I'd love to see that on video.

If Troy was in a prison in Texas or Alabama he'd be dead already. The only reason he's still alive is because white inmates outnumber blacks in Utah, one of hte only states where whites outnumber blacks in prison.

I guarantee you if he was in a Texas prison the black inmates would kill him the very next day.

<quote> Wasn't there a better choice to be given than 15 years or life? If the court was already willing to give him 15 years, then why not penalize him for going to court with 30 years (double it)? Why life? 15 years vs. life (60-70 years) is a big difference. <quote>

It is a big difference but that is how the system works. They usually give you a plea deal so they don't have to go through the hassle of a trial, one less trial the judge doesn't have to deal with. If you don't take the deal and make them spend the time involved when the judge already has a multitude of cases on him, then he is going to throw the book at you, make an example.

It would have went against protocal has the guards just ran into the room. There were so many trying to get in there to stop it but they couldn't be let in because they would have broken the prison rules, they had to have SWAT respond to it.

I was in the same jprison as Troy Kell. at the same time he did that stabbing. What yall don't know is that the guy he stabbed was a PC case (protective custody) who was a child molestor brought in from Bauxite state prison in arkansas. thats why he was shanked up like that,.

i seen this documentary and all i gotta say is the dude (troy kell) is a sociopath. from what i found on the web, there's actually people actually a lot of females that are sympathizing for him and actually feel sorry for his nutcase ass. they throw around that whole "he was very young" (he was 18 years old when he first killed somebody). the man does some screwed up *beep* and he tries to manipulate people by trying to convince people why he did what he did. the first person he killed, james kelly, he said was somebody that was some pedophile which i think he's lying about. the second person he killed, lonnie blackmon, he said tried to ambush him when on the tape it showed him attacking blackmon from behind and stabbing him up afterwards. this guy then goes on to say that the prison system made him into a monster when he already was one. which person you know shoots somebody six times in the face and takes their money afterwards like its nothing? its really disturbing how someone like this actually gets a lot of love from people especially females as if this guy's some savior of some sort.

reply

this is an old ass board but just saw a clip of the stabbing again on spike, so wasnt as graphic as the HBO one but yeah.. the people who said troy would get killed by the black gangs at any other prison, i think are mistaken.. at the end of the documentary i remember troy kell saying the guards set up a fight between him and a guy that was invovled with 9/11.. and troy could of have killed him but controlled himself or somethign like that..

And just because southern states have a bigger majority of black inmates than Utah, Troy would be taken in with open arms to the white gang at any prison.. and would have their protection.. but death row inmates arent in that much danger from the other prisoners either, their like in a cell for 23 hours of every day. I think Most people would stay away from that guy anyways.. anyone who knew what he did and is capable of would do their best to stay out of his way, unless they wanted to be known as the new crazy guy in that cell block,lol..

i am curious if this dude has ever been executed yet, i dont think he has though.
